Backspacing

Im thinking about to buy some 15x8 wheels. But there are different backspacings available (4" or 4,75"). whats the best choice for a 1997 TJ? will the wheels stick out of the flares with a 4" backspace?

thanks

Mark, Switzerland

I'm not sure if the tire size you are running matters, but 3.75 BS is what was recommended when I did my lift. 15x8 wheels, 33x12.5 tires, and a 4" lift is what I'm running.

Just to put this into perspective.. I run a 3" lift with 32x11.5's. I have 6" flares. My wheels are 15x8 with 3.25" backspace. The tires stick out between a 1/4" to a 1/2" past the flairs.

I eventually want to get new wheels that are 3.75 or 4.00

Only if you never plan on going with bigger tires (ex. 32+). otherwise I would do the 4.00"
