I just bought a 2001 TJ Wrangler and I want to put a 2" lift on it and want to put some BF Goodrich A/T tires on it but do not know what size of tire or wheel to go with it. I do not like a wide squatty looking jeep, so I really do not know what size tire and wheel to go with. My roommate told me he had a buddy put 285 size tires and it looked good but I do not know if that will make the jeep look wide and squatty or not. Any thoughts on what size tire and wheel will fit the 2" lift good?

Depends on the amount of room you want for when you go off roading. I had 32" bfg all terrains on with the stock suspension. (You can see pics in the TJ pic thread). They were fine for the street but forget about any off roading. So I would say a safe bet would be 31's. 32's if you don't plan on needing much flex. But will these be going on stock rims?

Well I mean with me putting a 2" lift kit on it do you think the 32's will be better than the 31's or will I still not have much room? I am going to buy new rims and I am thinking either 15x8 or 15x10 with a backspace of 3.75" but I don't know which ones will look best, what do you think? Any recommendations would be great because this is my first and only jeep, I just got this and got rid of my Chevy.

I personally like Crager soft 8s in black. They look nice and are cheap.

And what are your plans for the jeep? IMO if you do a 2" BB and 1.25" BL 32"s arent that bad if you arent expecting to do to much off roading.

I don't have any pics right now but its red and has a black soft top. I like the black rims also and as far as plans for it I'm not sure yet. I do not do that much off roading and when I do its not like I'm burying the jeep up to the frame its more like a few mud holes to go through on my way to deer camp. I might sound really dumb here but when you say 2" BB and 1.25" BL what do you mean? I'm just trying to figure out if I should go with 31 or 32 tires since you seem to think 32's will be too big. I really just want the jeep to look good so whichever size will look better is what I want because like I said when I do take it through mud its not like I am hammering it down ya know.

I have the 2 inch lift and I am going to buy some 31s. That way it don't rub off road. I'm just getting 31x10.5x15 should be perfect.

you puttin them on the stock rims i've been trying to figure out what to put on my stock rims i didnt know if 31x10.5x15 would fit on my stock tj rims.

No. I have some cragars that are 15x8. I beleave stock rims well at least the ones I have are 15x7 which will work ok with the 31x10.5x15 but if you went with 12.5 Wide tire I would say no.

Hey 20sport06 what brand did you go with on your 2" lift and what brand of tires are those? I am asking because I really like the look of the rims and tires on your jeep along with the lift. I think that is what I am going for with my jeep.

BDS 2 inch suspension lift is what i am running. I am running Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs in the 31x10.50r15 size...and the rims are just 15x8 cragar soft 8s with 4 inch backspacing.

I HIGHLY recommend the duratracs if you wheel and DD your jeep but dont want to spend money on a good mud terrain. I've hit standing water with them going 55 mph and the Jeep didnt budge. In the rain these tires are amazing...a lot better than the BFG A/ts i have driven on in the past. I hear they are good off road for what they are and are supposed to be beasts in the snow.

I also highly recommend the BDS 2 inch suspension lift. While it is pretty expensive for just 2 inches (about 450 shipped), you are paying for quality stuff. The ride is awesome for a short arm lift. BDS lifts also sit a bit higher than advertised height. I netted 2.5 front and 2.75 inches in the rear, the springs will settle but i will still be a lil over 2 inches.

Awesome..I checked all of it out and I am going to do exactly what you did to your jeep to mine. Mine is red with a black softop so I'm excited to put the lift and tires with the soft cragers. Should I get the steering stabilzer or is it not really needed?

Nah your current stabilizer should be just fine with 31s. Glad you like your setup. What year do you have and is it auto or manual? For some reason it is more common for autos to get vibes...and if your jeep is auto you'll most likely get vibes. So order up a 1 inch motor mount lift while you are at it.

32's should fit fine with 2bb, I have a 2.5 inch lift and 32's it could easily clear 33's

I have a 91 Wrangler without a lift and I fit 31x10.5 goodyears A/T comfortably. It looks kinda like balloon tires sticking out, without a lift, but no rubbing ANYWHERE what so ever....
