Bigger tires without wheel spacer

I have a 97 tj, 3.5 inch lift with 33"x12.5" maxxis big horns, I have 1.5" wheel spacer with stock, 15x8 rim, I want to get off these spacers if possible, I want new alloy rims, my back spacing on my rims now is about 6 or 6.5 if I remember, if I got rims with 3.5" back spacing could I run them with out spacers?
Are spacers that bad? Any information any one can give, thanks
Keep jeepin

Some will say they're fine others say otherwise.
They're just extra parts that may break eventually.
Yes 3.5 will be fine
