Smile Can I Change my tires from 33X12.5OR15 to P225/75R16?

My 2004 Wrangler has a set of 33X12.5OR15. A friend of mine got a set of stock tires for her new Jeep replaced and is willing to sell the set to me. I believe the size is P225/75R16.

My question for you guys- can I replace the 33X12.5OR15 with this P225/75R16? Do I need to take out the body lift or anything else? Do I need to change the drum (is the lug patter the same for these two sets)?

Thanks a lot.

A tire made for a 16" wheel is not going to fit on your 15" wheel. If you are talking about changing the wheels and tires, then no, they will not fit. The new JK Wranglers have a bolt pattern of 5x5. Your TJ has a bolt pattern of 5x4.5. Plus, you would be going from a 33" to a 29".

Yeah Im downsizing.

So what do I need to do? Can I change the drum or bolt pattern? The fat tires scratch my bumper when I turn the wheel sharp backing up. Plus I don't like the look that the tires poking out of the wheel fenders.

So what's your recommendation?

You could go with a wheel adapter like this that changes your current bolt pattern of 5x4.5 to 5.5. I don't know enough about the TJs to say if the backspacing would be too much, too little, just right, etc, so I'll let someone else chime in on that. The stock JK 16" steelies are 16x7 with 6.25" backspacing. So the adapters I linked you to will take that backspacing down to 5".

Thank you for the input.

Now I pretty much give up the idea to change to 225/55-16.

Do you think I can change to 22/75-15 tires on 33X12.5OR15 wheel and rim? Do I need a new set of wheels?

I'm running 33x12.5x15 and wouldn't change the size for nothing..... 33" are the perfect size.... IMO.

What size wheel? If they're 15x8 they should be alright but 15x10 will probably not be okay.
