Canyon vs moab

So some people love the Moab wheels some do not. I like them alot, but want to switch to 15" alloys for a little more rubber + cheaper tires. And since people say the "ride quality" is better on a 16" rim I found a simple solution. Trade my rubicon Moab's for my sisters 15" canyon wheels. (yes we are a jeep family) Any input on these bad boys? Got numbers on back spacing? How big of a tire can They fit? Are they overweighted for a 15" alloy?

Can't comment on the weight, but I'd think they'd be similar. BS on Canyons is about 5" or 5.5" iirc, 10.5" is as wide as you can go without spacers. I don't know why anyone would say "ride quality" is better on a 16"? Less tire = less comfort.

"shrug" it seems like a good option cuz I've been pushing off new cleats for a long time trying to find the right setup. I was hoping to go 33x12.5 though. Bummer.

The only thing I loved about the Moab's was the 16" size and the fact it was limited to the Rubicon. Which made it something different and helped with their resale value. Then the just kidding jeep came out and they put the moabs on almost all of them.
I always thought the canyon was a much better looking rim. It's backspacing is 5.5 and its 15x8 rim unless your sister and had a cherokee then they were 15x7.
You can run a 12.5 tire on it with no problem if you dont mind buying/running a spacer.
Agree with IG that the ride quality is not going to be that much better with a 16" wheel. Handling will be better, but not ride quality.

I'll probably keep thinking about the swap but I don't like the idea of spacers at all.

Dont blame you. I wouldn't run them either. Nothing against them at all, just not a fan.

You can run a 33 x 11.5 on your stock moab's though. Some have even run 305's without much problem.

And the width causes steering problems. Not flex problems...right?

Yes, the width will rub stuff when you turn, and if they're too wide, your tires will be destroyed.

Do spacers cause any problems? There's gotta be something bad about them cuz discount tire won't touch your rig if it has wheel spacers.

Ask them about "adapters".... Spacers, old school spacers were just like giant washers to stand your wheels out. Adapters are different.

I thought adapters were for differing bolt patterns.

Spacers are a big source of debate, some run them, some would never drive a rig with spacers. what i believe is that, because the spacers are so important, you should choose the best quality spacers when you're shopping. Don't buy cheap ebay spacers, but go instead for brands such as spidertrax and you will be okay.

They are, but you can put adapters with the same bolt pattern on to space out the wheels. Like the pic Nick posted, those are bad spacers that tire places won't touch. Adapters are a different animal, and the opinion of them may differ.....
