Cooper AT3

After much size/ aethestics anguish I finally settled on Cooper AT3s in 265/70/18 for my JKU. I wanted bigger (but not so big i'd lose performance/ MPG), I didn't want a lift and I just need to cross fields and the odd muddy track. I wanted to go with the 275/70/18 ST MAXX but the extra 20lb per corner seemed too great a penalty.

So, initial thoughts? Much more aggressive looking than I thought and propped against the standard tyre the seem bigger than half inch over standard they are. Due to be fitted on Thu so will give feedback on my driving impressions shortly.

Not only the extra 20lbs, the extra money, the A/T3 are a lot cheaper than the ST MAXX.

I got Firestone Destination MT for mine, but I guess I will have just one more year of use on them, they are wearing pretty fast I think. I may look after these A/T3 for my next set.

I have them in 315-75-16 and they have done great on and off road. Ride super smooth and quiet.

The more I run the AT3 on my 4Runner the more I love them. Super quiet like a HT tire, but awesome traction due to the open 2nd row blocks. They've got more open blocks than other ATs...yet they still keep the circumferential grooves open around the tire as well for rain, snow, mud evacuation. After you own them for a while you can see how Cooper engineers really worked hard on this design.

My favorite quote from the press release.. sad but true: "Chrysler claims its products, especially the Jeeps, can handle all sorts of terrible conditions, churning through muddy swamps, climbing mountains, and crossing rivers. Turns out they cannot even handle a car wash."

Now nearly 700 miles under the new tyres and I'm very impressed, no additional noise, the ride is excellent and I'm happy with them to date. Fuel economy has dropped by 2 mpg which I wasn't expecting as they are not much taller or heavier than stock.

I am having a set put on my 12 Sport next Friday. They will be 275 70r17 on stock rims with no lift. I hope the mileage is not affected to much going with a larger tire. jeeptertim did you take into account that that the taller tire rolls farther each revolution so you need to find the % difference between stock tire and the new ones and figure that into your overall MPG unless you recalibrated the speed.

I have mounted hundreds...literally hundreds of at3's. Very good tire all arround except mileage. Lots of fast wear problems. If your not worried about getting every mile of the "50, 000" or whatever the rating is.

Again, great tire. Just dont bitch when they wear out fast!

I have a set of 5 AT3's I am about to put up for sale (Going 35's). I bought my Jeep about a month ago and these came with it. They MIGHT have 2k miles on the tires. 265/70/17, wont be able to sell for about a week, maybe 2 if anyone is interested. Depends when I get my lift installed. The spare still has the blue on the lettering.

Located near Columbia, SC

Does anyone happen to wear the 315/70/17 version of these bad boys on a 2.5" lift?

Anyone able to compare them to the BFG AT or maybe the Nitto Terra Grappler?

Trying to decided on shoes after the lift in December.
