daystar tailgate bumpstops

Well, went to install them on the jeep and when I set the tire on the carrier it ripped the nub off that goes into the hole on the tailgate. Anyone have a solution before I throw another $15 for another set??

I know some people have just shoved the daystars into the stock ones, cut them to length, and taped them.

Did you cut the Daystars to fit before trying to install your spare? They look intact in the photo in your second post.

You need to put the spare on first, with no bumpstops, and measure between the snugged up tire and tailgate, then cut the Daystars to fit (leave about 3/8" extra, so the tire will fit tight against em.)

Yea, unfortunately I realized that mistake after the fact. I may just cut them to size and let the tension between the tailgate and spare hold it in place...

No biggie. Others have done it.

You might try Gorilla Glue...stuff rocks. You'll just need to clamp the screw and bumpstop together somehow, or get weight on it for awhile, for the GG to set up right. Might work.

I'd order another pair, though, cheap as they are. Better than having one of em fall out, and introduce a lotta bouncing to your spare, which could eventually tear up the welds in your tailgate.
