nice improvement in looks over the old style. Not sure I would try and run it though, I only got 15k out of the OEM set on my old truck

OEM tires are designed a little different than an aftermarket production tire model. OEM tires are build to specifics requested by the vehicle manufacturer.

I got a chance to run the Rugged Terrain T/A when they first came out and I was impressed. They did pretty well in light mud, loose dirt, and gravel roads. The on-road performance was awesome with very little road noise.

I haven't seen any side by side tests but it looks like these are targeting a little more tame market than what Falken is after.

Why would I want these over the BFG A/Ts I have ran for years-several sets? What advantage do they have?

It's important to remember that the Rugged Terrain T/A is designed for a mixture of on and off-road driving with on-road driving being the primary function. If you do a lot of off-road driving I would suggest sticking with the A/T KO. If you mainly drive on-road with the occasional off-road trip the Rugged Terrain would be a good pick.

I haven't seen a side by side comparison between this model and the A/T KO but I'm assuming the Rugged Terrain has better on-road handling with less road noise.

We take long excursions to the west from pa. I'm currently very pleased with my old BFG MUDs , with 24k miles on them we have about 2/3rds wear left.. If those new ones come in a 255/85/16 size I'm in.. 50k tread warranty speaks volumes, and they look to be plenty aggressive for the type of excursion wheelin that we do.. I'm going to your website now!!

No tall pizza cutter sizes just yet in this model but I'll certainly pass this information along to BFG.

Hey thanks, at current fuel prices it costs about 1,000 bucks for Moab and back.. The pizza cutters save me about 1.5 mpg, & I like keeping the stock look.. Hopefully enough folks will start leaning toward the " cutters " and BGF will invest in the mold !!

I dig the pizza cutter look myself. It looks good on the FJ as well.

How will they perform in winter on icy and snow covered roads? Also, with a 50,000 mile guarantee, does that mean the rubber compound is very hard and therefore zero grip on wet pavement?

Tire technology has really come along way in both construction and compounds. With advanced silca based rubber compounds, a tire can have wet traction without sacrificing handling or life.

The Rugged Terrain is not siped but it is all-season rated meaning it should do just fine in light snow conditions. I'm curious myself to see how this tire does in the colder months.

Thanks for the reply. I'm considering these come replacement time if they are available to the UK Market.

Interested in these as a replacement for the Michelin M&S on my 02 F150 FX4.... esp if the cost difference is appreciable.
