Don't laugh. What are bumpstops?

Tires (33x12.20x15) and wheels (15x8, 3.75BS) are ordered.
I was searching if the those will fit on my stock spare carrier. and from what I found, yes they will. But some people were posting I will need new bumpstops. What are bumpstops and why do I need to get them? And do I need to get anything else with these tires and wheels?

Grab your big cup of coffee, because I will have LOTS of stupid questions...LOL.

Its what keeps your tire from flexing up to high and hitting your fender.

I have no mods that affect the tires other than the bigger tires and smaller wheels. No lift or anything. the few mods I am doing are small girly ones...sills, mesh grill, side bars, grab handle bars and seat covers.

That is correct, but I don't believe those are the bumpstops the OP is referring to here. Based on her post, I'm pretty sure she is referring to the Daystar extended bumpstops that will be needed to keep the spare a little more solid. They can be purchased for $14.99 with free shipping by using this link. You will only need one set and they simply replace the stock bumpstops on the tailgate and they can be trimmed to the right length for your particular setup.

Young lady you need DAYSTAR EXTENDED BUMPSTOPS for your spare tire--thats all-

You'll need two (2) and they replace your stock BUMPSTOPS -

These with absorb the vibration in your spare tire mount-

Get them from Quadratec for about $15 bucks a pair--google em--Daystar bumpstops--

Good luck

Yes, bump stops for the tailgate. The other ones in the picture is WAY beyond my understanding...I would need to borrow someone's male part to understand it. LOL

LOL LOL I didnt even think of them but if she went with a larger tire she should only have to trim down the ones on the back correct?

No, because she is installing a wheel with much less backspacing than the stock ones. Therefore, the tires sidewall will not even reach the stock bumpstops. You can see an example of what I am talking about in the pic of MTH's rig below. This is a 33x12.5x15 tire on 15" Black Rock 909s, which have 4" of backspacing. The OPs tires would actually be .25" further away from the bumpstop than this.

Also, many people just use heater hose shoved into the hole in the stock bumpstops and then trim that to fit instead of purchasing the Daystar extended ones. Just food for thought OP.

I need the spare. Not only do I like the look but I am way too ODC about my tires to not carry a spare. I end up pulling out all my hair without it. Bald is not a good look for me. I have an ugly shaped head.
