Default Duratracks vs KM2 - road noise

I've talked to a few people about this and off the bat, wanted to thank them for their input. However, I have not seen any real large threads on this comparison from the people who have owned both tires, Duratracks and KM2's

I understand the two tires are quite different, one is full out Mud tire, the other is a mix between the AT and MT. Still, it seems from the threads I have been reading, most Jeepers tend to either go with one or the other. KM2 is an official WF tire for a reason... but looks like Duratrack is slowly creeping up behind.

I absolutely LOVE the look of a KM2 tire on a Jeep and have slight doubts about the look of a Duratrack in comparison.

So for someone like myself who needs a quieter ride on the highway as the 98 Wrangler Sport is my weekend vehicle and who absolutely hates the Maxxis BigHorns I've got on the Jeep now because of their unbearable highway noise, which of the two would you recommend and how much quieter is a 33" Duratrack compared to 33" KM2? Is the KM2 really noisy on the highway in comparison?

Thanks in advance guys!

I've got my flame suit on...

-Paul

I haven't had the duratracks but man are the KM2's quiet! They make only a tad more noise than my old BFG all terrains and I am pretty sure they are just a loud or quiter than my old first gen BFG mud terrains. They are definitally quiter than the Goodyear MT/R's I had on my Ranger.

I can only really hear these on the freeway or near those speeds. Noise is not an issue at all with them. (especially if you have had some other mud tires before)

They are noticeably quieter than my buddies Pro-comp Xterrains too.

i put on 33x1050 km2s last month and love them. they're very quiet when compared to my old 31x11.5 super diggers on the highway. those things were so loud. inside the cabin, you can carry on a conversation with no problems, given full doors and a hard top.

Don't know about the KM2's, but I just put on the duratracs and love them. Quiet and great in heavy rain, haven't seen snow yet.

Default KM2/duratrac

I have the KM2 37/12.5/17 .I got rid of the Krawlers because they were so loud you could have a conversation.

I like the KM2s bc they are quiet etc. I had the duratracs on my Jeep I when bought it. I thought they were louder compared to the KM2's.

I've heard that Fiestone Destination M/T are really good in the mud, and not loud at all.
I've seen them at Tire Rack.

Ihaven't tried the KM2 in thick slimy mud like we have here. Just hope they perform as well in the mud as on the highway.

Hope that helps
