Firestone Destination M/T On Order...

Just FYI I've ordered a set of Firestone's Destination M/T tire to replace stock Wrangler RS-A's. Will take pics and give ride/handling impressions as soon as I can. Should get some decent "unimproved" road time this weekend like we did last weekend. Sets us up for good comparison re: traction, stability, etc.

I had done a search of this forum and didn't see anything on this M/T version but did see some good things about the A/T version. Figured I'd let you all know. Here is a link to the tire.

I have a set on my Pathfinder and soon to get a set on my YJ. They are great all around tires. They tear it up in the mud and snow, best I've had on wet roads, and they are fairly quiet. Though, if you are getting M/T's, the last thing on your mind should be road noise. I have 12K miles on the tires on the Pathy and they show hardly any wear. They have seen their share of offroad. You need to air down for rocks and sand. Everything else, they perform well without airing down.

Here are some pictures of the F/S Destination M/T's mounted. Only a brief ~10 mile driving impression up to about 55 mph so far but seem very smooth and relatively quiet for what you might expect. Actually a little quieter it seems than the Dunlop Mud Rover's on my TJ. But of course the JK is quieter to begin with and it really isn't about road noise anyway! ha I'll provide another update after the weekend and about 400 miles of mixed driving.

Now after almost 1000 miles...tires are relatively quiet, not intrusive by any means. Smooth. Stable. And no problem taking the curvy mountain roads through the Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park or the unimproved mountain roads also found there (i.e, Parsons Branch Road to HWY 129- the Tail of the Dragon and Rich Mountain Road. Both are ~8 miles of dirt, gravel, rock, ruts, water, and so on...great fun). Also, very comfortable cruising at 80+ on the highway.

I'm very, very pleased with this tire. No serious off-roading yet unfortunately but soon I hope.

I've been wanting to get these tires. They look very similiar to the Dayton Timberline M/T but i cant find them anywhere (Daytons).

Any updates on the Firestone M/T?
