GY Dura trac

Anyone have any good/bad experiences with the Good Year Duratrac? Doing my lift wheels and tires next month and I really like the versatility of these? Thoughts???

Lots of us have them and love them. Get the Treadlightly rebate if you get them. They are quiet and behave very well in all conditions. Look fantastic... What more can you ask. The only problem I've heard with them is someone on another forum cut a couple of sidewalls wheeling, but they were replaced by road hazard, iirc. We've wheeled mine several times over all kinds of stuff and had no problems... However, we don't have a lot of rock around here....

Discount Tire has them for $172 each and free shipping. Last I checked Tirerack they were $154 plus $108 shipping to Ohio. That comes to $181. Discount Tire is also giving a $50 rebate if you use their credit card. Going to order mine this morning.

After much deliberating and researching and reading I finally pulled the trigger on these DuraTrac's 33x12.50x15 and ordered them this morning. Before rebates to my door $738.71. After rebates of $50 from Discount Tire, $40 from Goodyear and hopefully $75 from Tread Lightly, I should have $573.71 in the tires. Mount and balance $48 so a grand total of $621.71. I'm more than satisfied. Thanks to infernogirl for the heads up with Tread Lightly and their program. Can't wait to get them here and installed.

Wow! Infernogirl and and the rest of you posters are the bomb. I have done the research like kpdiver did for weeks and my appointment is tomorrow at 10:00 AM for the Duratracs with Chaos 5's. Didnt know about the Tread Lightly! deal until reading your stuff just now. Your posts just saved me another $75.00. Thanks. I will post pics once they are on. You guys and this forum are/is awesome!

I loved these tires and I'm sure they will do fine with a jeep. The only beef I had with these was the softer sidewalls they made it feel like I was in a boat when on the highway it would sway when changing lanes, but they were also on my gmc sierra. So I'm sure they will be fine with a wrangler, also they require a high psi somewhere like 50 psi or 55 psi cold. Despite that they did fantastic in snow rain and mud. Btw congrats on the lift and tires!

I just ordered them yesterday so I haven't even sent the rebate forms in yet but if you go to Discount Tires website you will see that Goodyear is offering a $40 rebate and if you apply for the car care one credit card through Discount Tire they will give a $50 rebate for buying the tires with the card. The Tread Lightly rebate was mentioned by infernogirl and is for $100 after you buy a membership for one year. The cost of the membership is $25 so in actuality you would be getting $75.

Love mine - quiet and good on the freeway. Not to mention look great. Only problem is that I dropped 1.5 mpg. I agonized over 32 v 33. In the end I went with the 32's (well 31.7"). Glad I did and they fit perfectly on stock set up.

I just got some Wrangler Duratrac 31's this Tuesday from Discount Tire, for $70 a piece, + the $50 rebate. I am not sure what this rebate is exactly, and wondering if I can still get the Tread Lightly one (assuming yes). The sales guy there had nothing but good things to say, actually he wouldn't stop talking about how good they were. He did make a comment about the softer side walls and them being 'stickier' so they pick up more debris on the road causing more flats (he was trying to sell the road hazard, so I couldn't tell if this is true or not).

I haven't spend a lot of time on the road with them yet, but I can tell you that they ride as well or better than the smooth 215 all season road tires I had on there. Anyways, I really like them so far, look and ride, and am completely satisfied.

Do you mean $170? I wonder how the 2-ply side wall will do on sharp rocks? Last time I bought tires from Discount, I purchased the road hazard and had a tire replaced a tire that got cut on a rock; I have always purchased the road hazard, but that was one of the few times that I've actually used the warranty. You can add the road hazard up to 30 days from purchase. They look like capable tires. I saw some yesterday on a CJ and the 33's looked like a a larger size of tire. There is a rebate from Goodyear for $40 for these tires. If you have a GY credit card, they will double the rebate, provided you paid for the tires with the card.

Not sure about TL, but most mail in rebates that I have done take any where from 6-10 weeks

Rebate

I sent a rebate in for a set of Michelin tires two months ago and still no check. I checked on the status and it the rebate was still in the processing phase. You should be able to go online or call to see if they are processing your rebate.

If you read the fine print, it says 6-8 weeks. This being tax season slows down the mail a bit too.... Patience grasshopper

Also remember to join treadlightly.com for $25. You can then get a $100 rebate on a set of GY tires.

If you get the GY credit card and use it to pay for the tires, they will double the rebate. I stopped by a Goodyear Store and looked at the Silent Armor, Duratrac, and Wrangler MTR tires. The Silent Armor had a fairly stiff sidewall, but it was only two plies. The MTR had three plies and the side wall was pretty stiff. The Duratrac had two plies and the side wall seemed to be the less stiff of the three.

Thanks for this! I looked at the treadlightly.org site the other day and thought there was only a $60/3-year membership, didn't know I could just get a one year for $25.

Sorry i post above I meant $170 per tire!

If you look here, you can see that the individual membership of $25 allows you to get the Wrangler rebate.

Tread Lightly - Individual Memberships

Now if you want 1% off invoice on a new jeep, you need to buy the 3 year membership.
