Help with 35" tire sizing questions

im putting a 3" RC lift on my jk, local 4X4 shop guys SWEARS i can runa 35 inch tire, i personally don't see how, would i not be rubbing somthing somewhere? And then my buddy chimes in and says i would lose power when mudding through holes and stuff. HE swears my jeep doesnt have the "balls" to push a 35. Any advice?

I have 35's on mine with a 4.5 lift. There is still plenty of room for a bigger tire, so I think I could have done a 3" lift & been ok (thats a guess so don't take it as gospel) No problem with off road use, I do however have 513 gears. Jeeps run 35's all the time without a problem & mine is doing just fine. Ask Hilldweller, he is very helpfull & knows his stuff

You need a MINIMUM of 2.5" to run 35's on a JK without SOME rubbing, suspension wise. To flex it fully, minimum of 3.5" if you disconnect your sway bar(s).
As for "balls," you would DEFINITELY want to re-gear. You wouldn't just "lose power"- your overall final drive ratio would drop going from smaller tires, as tires are gears in that equation. Your RPM's at any speed would drop. So, you re-gear to 4.56, 4.88, or 5.13 to compensate, if not add some RPM to improve acceleration. You'd also need a tuner to adjust the speedo for tire size/gear changes, and many of those can add some power.
My JK has plenty of chutzpah with 4.88's and 35's. It's no monster, but I can holeshot it pretty well for a man-size rig Mark W.

Here is mine with a 2.5 lift. I did have to trim the fenders but it seems to have worked. Also I have 4.11's and would love to re gear.
