how to choose wheel width

I currently have 255/75 17 tires and stock wheels. 2010 jku

I want to go to 285/70/17. So I am looking for wheels with more backspacing. 4.5

How do I tell what width I need? Some say 8" others 9" with 10" being too much?

Is there a chart somewhere that says for this size tire use this width wheel?

If I get 8 or 9 inch will my stock tires fit until I get tires next year?

thanks

Your stock tires will fit either of those widths, though they will be extremely stretched on the 9" wheels. For a 285 tire, I would recommend an 8" or 8.5" wheel, but the 9" would work just fine as well.
