What kind of rig do you have? Rubi, Sport with HD springs etc...

I had planned on running 285/70/17 on a 4.7s BS wheel, but do you guys think I can push my luck and get 305/70/17 or even a 315/70/17 on a stock setup with no lift just for a daily driver?

4fit - Thanks so much for all the help. Went with the 2.5" Teraflex coil lift, Blistien shocks, 1.5" Sidertrax and the 285/75/17s. Should have it installed by Friday.

This thread made me start considering 16" wheels. Will start researching them too. Helpful info!

That's a 34" and 35" tire, respectively. Not something I would do without a lift. Yes, people have ran them before on stock setup. But they were usually only running them that way for a short time before they installed a lift. If you take either of those tires offroad with stock suspension, you can expect lots of fender contact unless you extend the bumpstops. If you don't take it offroad, why sacrifice the performance and MPG hit that the larger tires would cause? In my opinion, stick with 285s.

Does 16" have a good "C" tire selection?

Is there a good selection of 34 and 35 inch C-rated tires in the 16" wheel size? I am looking into a 2.5" lift and new tires but the local shops said that most 16" tires were E rated. I'll stick with C rated so may have to go with 17s. Size 305-70-17 would be good (34" I think) but 35" will also work. The lowest I'd go would be 33" but a lot depends on tire selection in these sizes.

Did that...3/8" was the closest...add some body movement with bouncing around and it could touch. I do have the tow package. Not sure if that makes a difference in the 2 door.

The JK is use mainly on city driving only. Do I need to add any spacers etc? Thanks in advance.

18s will look pretty bad on a stock size wheel. youll need a 35 to make the 18 not look like a mall crawler.

Your Thread got me to switch forums~

4Fit - Wow... man, I really appreciate your thread - Its been a while since my last post on a Jeep thread - but am picking up my 2012 Sahara in the morning and was searching Google for the common "largest tire" threads.

Mine comes with the 18" wheels - but I tend to prefer the larger tire profile with smaller wheel - so want to drop to a 16" wheel. I had assumed that I would be stuck with a 265 / 75 / 16.. I do also want a wheel with more backspace as I would like to widen the stance a bit as well.

Do you have any photos that show how much you tires extend beyond the fender flare? I do like it to do so a bit - but not overly so. Also, you have a 4.75 if I am not mistaken with the 285 / 75 / 16s? Any chance you have some photos of this set up prior to the level kit?

I am not sure how I will approach the issue of suspension - I want to get to know this jeep before I opt for any serious changes to it. (Not a noob to jeeps have had MANY including 2 TJ's / 2 CJ's and my wifes Grand Cherokee) My old CJ still turns heads!

And thank you greatly for anything you could share along with all that you have already put into this thread.

Marc, here is a good pic to show how far they protrude from the flares. I don't have any pics of this setup on stock suspension because I installed the leveling kit months before swapping wheels/tires. These wheels have 4.5" backspacing.

Hi guys

I need a wider tire for a nicer stance on my Call of Duty without any spacers and with the stock suspension.

Here are a 2 Toyo Open Country tire models that I think could work
The numbers are: approved rim size/height/width/depth & weight

LT285/75R17 121P E/10 (34X11.50R17) 7.5-8.0-9.5 34.1 11.6 19 70.6
LT295/70R17 128P E/10 (33X11.50R17) 7.5-8.5-10.0 33.5 12 19 72.8

I just need to be 100% certain before I purchase so thanks for your help

regards,
Charles

On stock suspension, I would stick with the 33" 285. Just be prepared for the possibility of wheel spacers or washers on the steering stops to prevent any rubbing at full lock.

My new wheels and tires came in today. No lift (I leave near a city and have to deal with parking garages), 285/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on XD Addict 798, 17x9. I'm very happy with the look. 4.5 inches of backspacing on those wheels so no rubbing that I can tell so far.
