largest wheel/tire size for stock 2002 tj

Hi All,

I just purchased an un-lifted, stock 2002 Sport with stock tires and wheels. My question: Taking into consideration wheel and wheel well clearance, what is the largest wheel/tire size I can install without a lift? I haven't decided yet on whether or not I will lift it. Seems to be a lot of options.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Scott

I am also curious about this.

I am not a fan of the skinny anemic tires size on the SE and want wider and possibly a (little) bit taller.

I assume I could get away with BFG 235/75R15 All-Terrain T/A KO for example, on the stock rims. Any idea what the max would be for stock rims before going to a wider steel rim - and then what would the limits be - without having to adjust steering stops?

Thanks.

31x10.5 tires will fit without a lift. You may need to add a couple washers behind the steering stops to keep your tires from rubbing when making a tight turn.

Thanks for the input. I have been researching and am leaning toward a set of Duratracs on 15x8 Steel rims - I think that should work... unless the rim width is not right

15x8 will work fine for 10.5 wide tires. Those rims will also work if you decide to upgrade to 12.5 tires in the future.

Well that's good to know. Thanks.
