But I'm not sure what size Duratracs or Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires would look good. My preference is tall and thin, I would say, but I'm not too picky. Looking for as big of a diameter as possible that won't rub.
Stock TJs are said to tolerate up to 31-inch tires, with the possibility of needing to put a washer on the steering stops if it rubs on tight turns. So, it seems to me they should fit.
I have a 02 TJ and put 32 11.5 x 15 on new Ion wheels. No problem with rubbing. Uknown what backset they are. My friend who owns off road shop set them up. He advised I should stay with 15s when looking to replace.
Looking for some advice or some knowledge! I am running stock 16" rims on my 2005 rubicon. I am looking to lift it and put larger tires (33" with 3" lift). My question is do I need to go with smaller rims (15" vice 16") and why? Also, what is important about backspacing and how is it accomplished? Thank you.
You dont need too but they are cheaper. Your factory wheels wont have enough backspacing for 33 12.50's but should clear 33 10.50's. If you plan to run 33 12.50's you need around 3.75" of backspace on your rims. A 15x8 is preferred and like i said is cheaper.
I just joined Wrangler Forums and have a 2000 stock TJ. I am going to replace wheels and tires and don't want a lift. I want black Moab or similar style wheels and a AT tire. Any suggestions on size wheels and tires or brand? I have MT Aluminum 15 inch wheels and BFG AT tires now and want a change.
I have a 2.5" suspension with 1.25" body on 285/75/16 tires
