Looking for new tires for my stock 16" rims

hey guys i am new to this forum. i have a 2009 jeep wrangler sports base x model. i have 16" steelies (base) and looking to put bf goodrich mud terrains on. i was wondering if anyone knew the biggest size i could put on. someone at the tire shop said i could go 245/75/r16 (without any lifts, spacers or rubbing), but i have a feeling i could put even bigger. any replies would help. thanks

255/75's come stock on Rubi's.... So officially that's as big as you can go. Not sure how wide your steelies are, but you probably wouldn't want to go wider than 255 on them...

No Anthony, you cannot. Stock wheels have too much backspace for a 12.5" tire. You need 1.5" adapters to fit a tire that wide, and 33" is too tall to allow clearance for anything on a TJ.... You have to have some lift to drive over anything bigger than a snail...
