Here's another hybrid to add to the long list of tires that are really interesting for our Jeeps.

The Courser CXT was designed as a premium light truck commercial traction tire that provides trusted all-terrain performance with enhanced off-road durability. The CXT features variable full depth siping and a silica rich tread compound for enhanced wet and winter traction. The large tread element and blocky design help to resist abnormal wear while enhancing tread stability and durability.

One interesting point, it is available in the rare LT255/80R17 size for those that like the pizza cutters.

I agree, so many tires now! I wish they had a few more load range options, I really like the look of this tire.

What's the difference between these and the ST-Maxx, they're made by Cooper right? Definitely interested in the 255/80/17, wonder what the weights are and pricing. They look good, looking forward to some more info, haven't seen many running Mastercraft tires on here.

I can't provide any inside info, but they are made by Cooper. So I expect the construction to be similar. I run the S/T MAXX and they are a great tire. I might have done these if they were available, I expect them to have a better price point...

These are interesting, they have a similar tread design to the outstanding ATZ P3 which are also produced by Cooper as part of their premium MickeyThompson off road brand. If these perform anywhere close to the ATZ P3 and have as tough sidewalls, but at a lower price point they will be another "out of the park" winner for Cooper.

Looks like they finally updated the C/T! Nice...I've always loved Mastercraft tires and they are available at the local mom 'n pop shops, which means you can get good pricing and service on them.

The C/T is a lightweight tire with awesome traction. Looks like this new version tweaks the design with a little more siping and slightly less road noise. Should make for a great tire.

Pretty good article about these tires, comparisons to the ST/Maxx, lots of details. Different carcass, 2 ply, [Maxx is 3], the 255/80/17 weighs 55.2 lbs.

Good info. For what it's worth, the 2 ply design was seen previously in both Deegan 38's and in the Dick Cepek Extreme Country, two other tires made by Cooper.

ThX @Pressurized

We've run into a road block of sorts. We're considering the ST Maxx tires, But Discount tire & Coopertire tells us that the Maxx tires are on back order.. Coopertire then tells us that the next best alternative to the ST Maxx tire is the 265/70r17 Mastercraft tire.

Although we've never mounted an E rated tire, I'm just concern with the tread life longevity.. Not going off roading to any sort of extreme, So we're looking at maybe 70% rural roads/back roads / Pavement, 30% dirt roads or mild trails.

I'm running the S/T Maxx E 3 Ply tire. It is wearing like iron... In fact, I can't believe how little tire wear I have with no issues at all with traction. These premium tires do ride a little firmer than the light duty tires that come on Jeeps from the factory.

I actually wanted the Dick Cepek Extreme Country for the 2 ply sidewall but they weren't available yet when I needed tires. This CXT would have been high on my list at the time if it were available. Cooper makes great tires and if they recommend the CXT, I see no reason not to try it.

Good luck!

@Pressurized Been beating my brains out trying to locate either one of these tires.. The trouble is, no one is coming clean about what "back order" means or how long it will take to get these tires to our set location.

IF we aren't able to locate these tires.. our "Building Our Freedom Giveaway" wont happen because we can't rightly give away a set our our tires IF we have nothing lined up there after. We still have a few weeks left in trying to locate these tires.

Even though Matt via Discount tire on the forums has been keeping us updated, everyone suggest that we call the service center and order these tires.. I don't want to order them too soon or too late. Calling any of those places at this point in time isn't very high on our list of things we can do at this point in time. This calling will have to wait until late Aug.. but would that be too late as to get them where we need them around Sept.

It's not the fact that we realize these tires are on back order etc.. it's the fact that those places we've emailed haven't responded back just so we can all be on the same page.

Something to consider... The 265/70-17 is a little smaller than the stock 255/75-17. I would always go a little bigger. The 275/70-17 is 1/4" taller instead of 1/4 shorter. The S/T Maxx is listed in that size, have you checked for availability on those?

Wanted to show another difference between the 255's and 275's while using the Wheel-Size.com site:

Image: As you can see the 275's will give us a.4% increase on the over all size of the tire which is were we wanted to be. Slightly larger tires without approaching or going over the 33's barrier.

I'm finding these sites to be very useful when dealing with wheels sizes, back spacing, offset etc.

Welp Thanks to @Pressurized & Eric via Coopertire, I was able to locate those 275/70r17 Maxx tires we're wanting.. Not to find the perfect time to have these mounted on the Rubicon Hard Rock wheels. (which we've yet to acquire) We're still hoping to giveaway our less than desirable steels w/ Deuler tires, but we're just not ready to make that announcement.
