Max Wheel Width ?

Not wanting to replace my Sport 255/75/17 tires, we would like to do wheel upgrade now.. I believe my Sport wheels are 7.5" wide ? Can I safely replace with a 9.0" wide rim, until we get some use out of the stock tires before upgrading tires..?

I'd go with 8" tires...they're better suited to tires up to 12.5" wide, which is as wide as you're likely to go.

Really depends on the tire you are going with.
Is the jeep going to be mostly street or off road?

mostly road, mild off road in near future. plan to install 285/70/17's when stock tires get down far enough. we do plan a trip to high country around Silverton area next summer.
