Mickey Thompson Classic III Compared to Classic II

I ordered a set of 4 Mickey Thompson Classic IIs about a year and a half ago. I wanted to finally have a full size spare, so it was time to order another wheel, and put the extra 31 I had on it. They don't sell Classic IIs anymore, now it is the Classic III. I looked on the forum to see if there were any differences between the two other than price. I saw something about a higher load rating, but I don't know if that true. To me it seems like the back spacing and offset are the same as the classic ii, but there is a difference in the appearance of the wheel. The 8 holes in the wheel, which give it that classic look, are significantly bigger on the Classic IIIs. I remember when I got my Classic IIs, and I was a bit disappointed at the size of the holes. The picture that 4wd.com and quadratec had on their websites for the Classic II showed the 17" wheel, and the holes on the 15" wheel are much smaller. I like the Classic III look better.

I am bumping this old thread because it deserves some comment by any who actually know from firsthand experience with the Classic II and Classic III rims.

I too would like to know what the specific differences are. I have the Classic Locks that are pretty old, so they are probably based on the Classic II. I *hate* the fake bling-bling beadlock ring. However, the way they stick out from beneath the flare (3 5/8" backspacing) and the overall shape are very attractive to me. I really wish I could find a set of Classic IIs for my TJ. I like the Classic IIIs, I guess, but not the bigger holes.

Are the hole sizes based on rim size? Did the Classic IIs in 17" also have larger holes? Do the Classic IIIs in 15" have smaller holes?

Any MT reps on this forum?

I'm no spokesman for Mickey Thompson, but the holes on A set of 17in Classic IIs I saw on a JK had much bigger holes than my 15in Classic IIs.

I have the same problem, bumping again to include mail from M/T

"Ok. Yeah the Classic II had a -30 offset and the Classic III has a -8. So way different offset and backspacing."

Thanks,
