N00b question, 315/70R17 = 34" or 35"

I'm completely new to the Jeep/off roading world and the wife and I just picked up a 2012 Rubi Unlimited. It came with Goodyear Wrangler tires sized at 315/70R17. Looking at this calculator, it says the tires are actually 34.3 inches. I've never heard anyone say "I've got 34s", so was wondering if my tires would be considered 34s or 35s?

Like I said, total n00b question

u r correct. 315/70/17...most people consider them 35's including myself, but in reality they measure just a lil over 34. same with 285/70/17...i consider them 33's but mine came up to exactly 32.

Thanks dawhitesJKU. I wanted to make sure I was calling them the right thing... even if I am a n00b, I hate sounding like one all the time. lol

Plenty of folks say "a 34" on the forum.
