Need help with my 33

Just got a new jeep and the 33's are to wide and are robbing to much power.
It a 1987 yj 6 cyl with Toyo 33 13.5 on 15 in rimes.
It will have to drive on the freeway to get to the trails but mostly for the fun and driving around not as a DD.

We would like to go on muddy trails and there is a lot of rocks.

What should I look at? Any help would be great.

Thanks
Jason

You probably just need to regear..... a 13.5 is pretty wide. I have 33X12.5R17 on mine. However, our two jeeps have different specs.

Those are some pretty wide tires for those "rimes" but you should look into re-gearing your rig to 4.56 or 4.88 if you wish to go to 35's. or 4.88-5.13(i think thats the right gearing) if its an auto.

Lumberjack is right. If you are upping to 35's you want at least the 4.88. If you are going to stay with those 33's then you should be fine with the 4.10 range. Not sure what your stock gears are at? Quadratec has a great reference chart for gearing and tire size ....
