How about this new tire. It's got some serious potential!!
I suspect it will be too heavy for the light weight crowd, but it will be massively durable for the guys that like to do rocks. Waiting for it to show up on the Cooper website so we can see some sizes. I do know it will be in the 295/70-17 size that isn't all that common.
This one will be a nice compliment to the already outstanding S/T Maxx.
Ordered 5 of the Cooper Pro's in 35 x 12.50 x 15's and 5 Level 8 Bully Pro wheels, got the 4th of July special at Discount Tire and I'm one happy camper. RK 3.5 will be dropped by brown santa on Wednesday.
:thumb: Cool beans man... Looking forward to the pix.
I gotta go measure the height on mine. another WF member wants to know. also gonna play with the Procal. it showed up yesterday, was scheduled for Monday of next week.
My 285/70/17's measure out to a 32 1/4, give or take a smidge. This is running a 32psi. On a stock wheel.. Tread width is damn sure wider. The ride (to me) is camparable to the stockers (SR-A). I can feel the tread blocks a little at a very slow roll (minimal). And it's to be expected from a mud tire, and a non issue.
I did program the tire size with the Procal, Which is a cool little thing. but in my opinion, an out dated way of programing. But it does the job, Rite..
On a side note. The tire was hitting the tower for the 3rd brake light, and pressing into the tire. My quick fix was going to the auto parts store and picking up a 2 pack of those cheesy wheel spacers for $20. The size I got was 5/16ths. thickness. Only used one, and works great. As for the stock bumper... No problem at all with or without the spacer.
Now, the tires do rub the swaybar at full lock. Easy fix is to pull the sway, or not turn as sharp. get spacers, or do a small lift. This will be decided at a later date. The stance is nice. Tires are inside the top of the fenders, but not by much. And this is what I wanted.
Yeah, I got a little carried away. But it is what it is, And I dig it.
Oh yeah.. Tread width at it's widest point is 9-1/2".
Edit: forgot to add. Spec's from Cooper said a height of 33.03 on a 8-1/2 wide wheel.
Just a couple pics showing the tight fit in the rear wheel well, this is after trimming the rock rails 2" and along with pinch seam trim. (I am flexed to the bump stop)
Hey folks, I've burned 2 tanks of gas and am happy to report that I've experienced zero change in mpg. I did use a procal, not sure if that matters but I would have thought going to these bigger heavier meats I would have taken a mileage hit.
I was wondering if you could do please do me a favor and measure the height of them mounted and what width wheel, pressure etc. you have set up.
Best way I've found is to use a long level and then you can make sure it's accurate.
Also curious if you put one on a scale to weight it before getting them mounted?
You're going to love them off road. Gave mine a good workout last weekend. Some pretty sloppy mud on the trail along with a couple good rock obstacles and inclines.
Seems to me the noise level has increased a little but tire hum doesn't bother me.
xxRubiconJohnxx just got a set of these 35s for his Rubicon.. I really like the way they look, and they are quieter than my 33" Duratracs .. I think a set of these may be in my future..
I have them. They measure pretty accurately. Mine are mounted on 17x9 wheels, air is at 29lbs, and the height is 36 5/8".
They have been great on and offroad so far. No complaints. The tires are obviously getting a little louder now that they are getting some miles on them, but not that much of a change....still quiet IMO.
I have 35x12.50r15 on 03 TJ.
They took alot of weights to balance. They rode like they were out of round.
I took them to another shop to get them road force balanced since i bought them last week. The shop said they can not get them right without alot of weights. These tires were quieter than my MTR's but the ride is a little worse. I feel when driving about 35mph the tires are out of round. I took them back to the shop i purchased them from and they said they would return them but would not try another set. They said it might be because i am trying to run it on a 15x8 rim. I am dissapointed. Guess i need to do more research and get something else or put up with the out of round feeling.

Been looking at these for a while, but did not find this thread until today. Found this review a while back though and haven't seen a link to it on any of the previous pages. Sorry if I missed it, but at least, here it is:
Just had a set up these installed yesterday (285/70/17) and have to say they are an impressive tire so far. As Hafaday had stated earlier, mine measured out as well to exactly 32 1/4 height at 32 psi. Fit well with no issues after my tereflex leveling kit on my stock Willy's wheels, and no need for wheel spacers or trimming off any bit of the rock rails. They sit about an inch away from the rails. Going from the stock KM's in the C load, to an E you can feel the extra stiffness and a bit more road noise, but overall they feel great and they handled well on the very wet roads here this morning.
If you could give some more updates as you go that would be awesome. Looking at the same exact tires, I'll be mostly DD but I wanna get into some of the mud pits down here in Florida. Thanks!
