I noticed they put it in the same price ballpark as the K02 34 10.5 17. I would guess the Nitto would be about an inch taller than the K02, as they run small.
I've found the Cooper AT3 285 75 17 for about $188 a tire on Tread depot
but it is an E rating. https://www.treaddepot.com/?adpos=1...productDetail/tireStandardFitment/90000023630
They won a tire test of AT tires and gave the best overall performance.
What you have to remember is each brand is constructed a little differently. I would be willing to bet that the 285/75 Cooper AT3 in LT-E weighs less than the 285/75 Nitto in LT-C. Comparing brands is hard to do on an apples to apples basis.
My Falken AT3/Ws are P285/70-17 which in theory should be extremely light...but they actually weigh 51 lbs. each because they are built rugged.
Got a reply back from Nitto on weights. They told me the 285/70/17 in BOTH the C and E ratings are BOTH 54.45 pounds (they specifically said both). They also said they can't release info on the 285/75 yet because they're still in production and don't have final specs yet. Based on the 54.45 for the 285/70's I'm hopefully the weight on the 75's won't be too high. Also, I suspect that National Tire site has a way inflated pre-release price or something. If it's not, guess I'm going Falken A/T3W then and those are 65.5 pound E range bricks in 285/75.
Wow, the price has gone up on these. I just checked out the 285/70's on DTD's website and they were 270+ a tire. i thought they were listed for around 245 a week ago. If $300 for 285/75's is accurate, looks like I'll be going with the Falken tire instead.
I saw these for the first time at the beginning of this thread and decided to try them out. 35 x 12.50 17. After almost 2,000 miles, I friggin love these tires. I have had many sets of Terra Grapplers on trucks. I have had the Open Country AT and BFG. I had Wrangler MTR on my TJ. I have always liked the Nittos but these things are awesome. I can't believe how quiet they are. With the top off on concrete highways i hear no hum at all (just obvious wind noise). I have not had a chance to try them in deep mud, but they are great on rocks wet or dry. They are great in heavy rain on the road. I also noticed after driving slow on rocky back roads, when I get on the highway I hear zero rocks flying from the tires hitting the Jeep. I have heard they are awesome in snow too (testing in Alaska), but I haven't had a chance to try it out. Took very minimal weight to balance.
*--$1430 for 5-35 x 12.50 (Ebay company out of MN)
*--Weigh in at 106.4 lbs with 17" Procomp 7036 (did not get a chance to weigh the tires by themselves)
*--Measure 34.5" @ 30PSI
Thanks for this thread for finding out about these tires. I was set on the 285 size tire as I don't want to do a lift but other than Duratrac's most tires in that size are E rated. I was concerned about the ride as I have a 2 door so when I saw this tire in a D rating I was sold. I got them mounted on Level 8 Bully Pro's, very happy with how they look. First impressions are that they are very quiet and are extremely smooth riding. For my jeep, 30 psi is too high a pressure. I'm going to try 28 tomorrow and see how it feels over the bumps and pot holes.

285/75/17.
Called DTD today. They didn't have any information with respect to release date. They called Nitto and couldn't get any information from them either.
I was told they're at least 30 days out due to Nitto not being able to provide DTD info on this tire.
Just got back from 5 days at the beach. We did some beach combing and general lazing around. Got to try the tires out in very soft and dry sand. They did better than I had hoped for. I'm very pleased with the performance, at 14 psi they had great flotation and easily climbed hills that were very hard to get up with the stock KM's.
The C range 285/75/17 has shown up on Nitto's website. Must have just happened in the last couple of days. DTD still isn't showing it, but I did find one place online listing it for 285 but temporarily priced at 259.
I have been following this tire for a while now, will have to change mine in February so I hope that 285/75 will be out by then.
Being a C range, will it be a much weaker tire in regards to punctures compared to the D range?
Well, it will be weaker than the SAME tire in the higher range, but it could be stronger than a competitor in the same load rating just depending on design/etc. The thing to keep in mind is, just because it will rip out a P metric or C range LT doesn't mean it won't also rip out an E range as well. If you're always in some really rough stuff, maybe the E range is a better choice or even one of the Kevlar tires that are out there.
For me, 90% DD and once or twice a month mild-moderate trails I think the C range is a perfectly acceptable risk and would probably even do a P metric if it was offered in 285/75. I was actually originally going to go P285/70/17 Terra Grappler G2 for quite a while until I decided to go to the 75 profile.
doing some browsing today and the newly launched Toyo open country C/T came up. Would that be the Toyo replica of the ridge grappler?
they look similar in the pix
The 285/75r17 measure just a little over 33" mounted and aired to 35psi. The stock Sahara tires measured around 31". I do not have a lift and i had to trim the front air dam. The wheels are 17x9 trailmaster TM210 with a 4.75" bs. I have 3.21 gears and while I notice a loss of power it's not bad... but this combo is heavy.
Newbie here - looking at Fuel Assault 18x9 with 35's for my new 2016 Unlimited. Anyone use Wheel Hero Website? And I need a good combo tire for mostly concrete but some off road. I want a more rugged look and feel. Thanks for your help.
