I just put 285/75s on today they look and feel awesome so far. Not much of a test drive though.

@KC10Chief

Great info. So far, we are huge fans of the RG's.

Traction is a specialty of the RG's... I'd put them up against just about anything on a "slippery slope" test.

We're still debating on the Ridge Grappler vs the Trail Grappler. The wife really likes the looks of the TG over the RG, and she doesn't mind the road noise from mud tires (she drove on Wrangler MT/R w/Kevlar for 6 years).

Given that they seem to be roughly the same price (RG v. TG) for 35x12.5x17, is there a real reason to try and talk her out of the TG?

We'll be looking for a sale on either/both before pulling the trigger.

I have been looking at tires for weeks and this thread helped me decide. I just pulled the trigger on some Ridge Grapplers 285/75/17 C load for $269.99 each from BBwheelsonline.com. That seems like a great price, with free shipping so I went for it.

It's the Garvin Track Rack, part number 44014, with the Wind Deflector, part number 29954. I love it!

The Ridge Grappler will be a massive step up in any kind of wet weather... It will have shorter braking distances, it will ride better/smoother and is in another league on lack of road noise.

Has anyone bought and mounted up 35x12.50x18 yet? The F rating kind of worries me on one hand.

But they will probably be the last tire you would ever have to buy for your JKU. I mean could you ever wear out a 12 ply tire on a JKU under normal circumstances?

Thinking of the Ridge Grapplers in 35x12.5x17 for my 2 door jk wrangler. They are E rated. Anyone else with a 2 door have these? Wondering how the ride would be.

Hello,

Were you able to use the stock tire carrier?

Thank you,

Yes, the tire was a good fit but does not rest against the rubber stoppers. I have golf balls filling the gap for now!. Total weight is 92lbs so it is higher than the rating of the carrier. I'll probably upgrade it eventually.

I've got about 700 miles on a new set of 285/75/17s. Went with load range C. Almost as quiet as the stock JK Bridgestone tires I had been running on the highway. Stick like glue to the road when wet so far. Have not had them offroad for more than a mile or two so far, but that will change soon.

I was set on the Cooper STT Pro's but after looking at these I believe they will be my next set. Just gotta decide if I want the 285/70/17 or 285/75/17 for my JKU with spacers and a TF leveling kit.

With regard to the stock tire carrier, does the 10lb difference between the /70 & /75 tire matter? I'd like the larger tires, but am not ready for a new tire carrier. If I'll need one for either tire, then /75s it is. I am running stock 17 rims.

Thoughts?
