new owner with tire questions

I just took delivery of a 2012 Sport with 255/75 17" Wrangler SRA tires on them, and I'm looking to upgrade to something more agressive. I won't be rock-climbing with them, it's just a daily driver. I live in Vermont so I need something that is good in the snow aslo- that coupled with the look are the things most important to me.

The diameter of the SRA and 32.1", so I can go bigger using stock rims/no lift/spacers as long as I stay under 33" diameter correct?

I am thinking up to a 285/70 ?????

Tires that I am liking so far as BFG T/A KO's and Goodyear Silent Armor. I know you guys seem to like the dura's, but I just don't care for the side bites on them.

Opinions on the two tires mentioned above would be great, as well as other suggestions would be apreciated.

Thanks/Kevin

Yes 285/70R17 ok with 1.5" wheel spacers. 275/70R17 may even be doable without spacers. Most folks will tell you that for the cost of spacers, you might as well spend a little more for new wheels with the correct backspacing.

For the two tires mentioned I would go with the BFG's. Other than the Duratracs and Kevlars, I'm not too impressed with anything in the GY line.

I'm getting ready to upgrade too, so I'm curious to hear opinions.

My suggestion would be bfg at ko, good DD, very good in the snow and you will get a lot of miles out of them.

I am leaning toward the KO's with spacers. I'd like to go with new rims the the 4.5" backspacing, but I can't seem find anything I like unless I get way north of $600(with TPMS)

I have basically the same Jeep, only mines better looking. I've asked and asked and debated on wheel/tire combinations for a month. I've Read about other mods on here, like bumpers, roof racks, etc. all of which add significant weight.

So, Here's my suggestion. For tires I've read good things about the BFG's and that you can go up to 285/70 without a lift. This is a consensus of quite a few old timers on here.

Now, consider this. What else do you plan to do to your Jeep? Bumpers? Racks? If you plan on getting aftermarket bumpers, you should upgrade your suspension. Just upgrading your springs and shocks will add 2" to your vehicle. (It's also recommended to change your track bar and lower control arm bolts as the stock bolts are under sized.)

New tires all around will cost you more for the parts to upgrade your suspension and if done first will give you a better reference point for what tires/wheels you want to get.

I went with the same tires - should have them in a week or two. As for wheels you can get lots of options anywhere from $100 - $200. I got Black Rocks for about $160 each. Keep in mind wheel spacers are going to run you $100 for a set of two, so $200 total. I'd still suggest new wheels as a long term solution. I just also don't trust wheel spacers, something about them just seem dangerous to me over the long term

Shore- thats exactly the one. There is a few different ones that have the similair look, and I'm trying to decide on one- but something black/silver.
I won't do a lift, so I will go the 285/70's with thise rims......I think. Anything larger will require some type of lift/leveling correct?

Yeah I really like that wheel. I put my order in for Black Rock Vipers and 285/70R17 tires, so I should have my new shoes in a week or so. The Black Rocks are similar to the ones you like, black with a little chrome. Like you I do not plan a lift. 285's should work fine with those rims and no lift. Here are the one's I ordered:
