New tire question

Looking to pick up some new wheels and tires. What is the largest tire size I can get that fits 16x8 wheels?

I was thinking about goodyear DuraTracs. Let me know wha you guys are running.

Thanks!

I'm running 32 inch Duratracs (265/75/16). Love them!

As far as the largest tire you can get, that will likely depend on your lift/clearance. Metric goes up to 325/75/16 (35 inch). You can buy 35x12.50x16 inch tires instead of metrics as well, but the width is a little bit wider. You can get much larger than this, but how high do you really want to go? Getting larger than 35's and you start talking about cutting fenders, increasing the short arm to long arm, etc......

If you are upgrading from stock, don't forget to consider modifying your differential gears as well as your speedo. I upgraded from 3.07 gears to 4.10 when I went to my 32 inch tires. This also depends on which tranny you have (I have a NV3550, 5spd manual).

Hope this helps!

Look at the manufacturer specs for recommended rim width and try to stay on the low end of the range if you drive off road. You can even go about 1/2" less than the minimum width but some shops may give you a hard time about mounting the tires. You can mount most 12.5" wide tires on 8" wheels.

Sorry... I want to try and get the largest DuraTrac tire without using a lift to fit a 16" wheel. I was under the impression the largest tire to fit a 15" wheel was a 33x12.5x15.... What would the 16" counter part be?

Tire Size Converter | Metric to Inch Tire Size Calculator

Best fit I could find is a 305/70/16 for 16 inch rims. They dont sell a 33x12.5x16 inch tire, so you have to do the metric conversion.
