Newb rim/tire question

I recently bought my first Jeep and am finally looking at getting wheels and tires for it. I've decided on the Black Rhino's and Duratracs but cannot decide on what size for either rim or tire

I've narrowed it down to either 17x9 or 18x9. Any suggestions or benefits to either aside from price would be great.

As far as tires go, I'm a complete newb as this is my first Jeep, or 4wd for that matter, so I'm still trying to wrap my head around all these numbers. My Jeep is my daily with little mudding aside from getting into hunting and fishing spots, also with stock suspension for now. Eventually plan a 2.5" lift when funds are available. I'd like something slightly bigger for a more aggressive look without the headaches of rubbing

I've started reading the tire size sticky and it has a ton of information but would still like some suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Good luck, I am in the same boat. I narrowed my wheel selection down to 18x9 XD 820's. Most folks here will say go with a 17" due to more sidewall and cheaper tire, however I like the look of a tad bigger wheel. Only issue I am having is do I go with a 33" tire since I have no lift, or a 35".

Another member said just go straight to 35's and said you should be good as long as you don't do any off roading before getting the lift.

You won't fit a 35 without removing/trimming air dam and flatties. And of course you have at least 4.5 back spacing, regardless without a lift and flatties off road is not gonna happen you will have zero room for articulation. Go with a light 33". Remember overall, if your gear ratio can't handle that larger tire, it's pointless. Don't spend a ton for that size without proper gears or setup or you will be really disappointed.

Well I think I've decided on a setup and would like some input on weather it would be alright or is run into problems. I'm planning on running 315/70/17 (not sure which tire yet) on a 17x9 Glamis (4.53 backspace). I'm also going to order a 2.5" Teraflex lift. Am I gtg with this setup or what, if any, problems might I run into?
