Question Offroad tires, for a commuter.

Hello all,

I own a 98 TJ with 225*75*15 on right now. I live in Chicago and need better tires to handle snow, but I also commute so I can't have a very agressive tread.
I would like to know, what is the best all season/off road tire that isn't really loud for the highway? I plan to offroad in the spring and would not want to change wheels or anything.

Thanks for the advice

Try an aggressive at tire.

Look at Goodyear duratrac. A lot of people really like that tire.

Ehh...I would just go with a MT...It may be loud and it may cut into your gas mileage but you will probably never find yourself in a situation thinking, man I wish I had gotten some AT tires...if you get AT's you may find yourself thinking "Why didn't I get some MTs?!" I have some cheapo-depot MTs from Wal-Mart and they have still been able to handle every single thing i've thrown at them

Good year duratrac is probably your best bet, they're quiet, still get decent gas milage, great in wet weather, and will do the deed on the trail. also they're actually rated for snow. the compound that they use to make the Duratrac tires doesn't get hard in the cold, thus maintaining better traction. alotta' members on this site use 'em and swear by them. here's a pic. I don't know how you jeep is set up, but if you're gonna stay stock, go with a 30x9.5x15 or a 31x10.50x15 size tire.

Duratracs for sure Tread Lightly - Home will save you $75 if you're not already a member.... They're great looking, and perform very well in all conditions. I've had mine for a year now....
