Default Powdercoating verse painting

is powder coating a better idea than DIY painting my rims? I do only want black, its a simple color and everything! will they hold up?

guess-ta-mating what do you think it will cost for 5 rims?

p.s - there eagle alloy, 15"by 8" 5x5.4 pattern.

Cheaper to buy some craiger soft 8s
under 50each
but to answer your?
powder will last longer and look better but when it
start to chip/flake it will be harder to cover-up
paint you can touch up as needed but still
looks like painted rims

I would sell your rims on CL and buy the
black rims you want
with little if no money out of pocket

See that sounds great id really love that, but its my DD and atm my father give me approval for anything i do, so CL my rims and buying new ones would be tricky lol.

Sound like paint then
because powder coating you would
have to remove tires give rims too
coater and in might take some time and
around $80 per rim

Paint u can just mask the tires
ruff up the rims and paint ,dry
and drive

I've had my MOABs powdercoated for the last 3yrs and are holding up fine, other then some "rock rash".

I've had a couple spots where it has chipped and easily masked the area off and rattle canned it to match. Can't even tell where its been touched up.

I got mine for a deal, $25ea wheel, back when I lived in Wisconsin

I'm having mine Powder Coated on Mon/Tues this coming week.

The Gent at Wheel Technologies, said it is better to get them Powder Coated, as opposed to Painting. He said the Powder Coat would.....

- Look Better
- Last longer
- Clean Easier

than Painted Wheels. These folks have been in business for years, and do Insurance Work such as Wheel Repairing, Wheel Refinishing, and Wheel Painting/Powder Coating. So, they know their business! Also, they are going to Warranty all five Wheels for LIFE (or as long as they're in Business, or I keep my Jeep.....), and will repair any Chips, Dents, Dings, etc, for FREE.

Now, I don't know how much things cost in your area, but the Cost of Living is a bit pricey here. Since the three Wheels that I was going to switch out my Stocks for, were ALL Backordered for the next few months, I decided to go with the Powder Coat idea. I'm getting 5 Wheels done, for $500... $100 a Wheel. Sound high? Well, I got an estimate from two other places, and was quoted $125 and $150 per Wheel. The Wheels I was going to buy, were $130 each, so I feel at $100, I'm getting off a little cheaper, and will have a few more $$$ for Jeep Mods!

Chris! At $25, you got a HELLUVA DEAL, my Jeep Brother!

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

BB
