Pro Comp Tires

Hi guys! I've been looking endlessly for tires and wheels for my 2008 Jk. I do not want a lift or spacers at this point, so I decided to stick with 33x12.5x15 tires. Of course I decided to purchase the Duratracs. I was placing my order with 4wheelparts.com and called them with a question. I was using them because they had the AX188 Ledge wheels that I want. The Duratracs are out of stock for about a month. So I got talked into the Pro Comp Extreme A/T tire. Got a good deal on price but I'm now sitting back hoping I made a good purchase. I haven't seen too much about these tires on these forums. Can someone give me an opinion on theses tires vs. the Duratracs?

I dont know alot about the duratracs but i have the pro comp extreme ats and they vibrate alot. In my opinon i would send them back. My set wont balance right. They shake really bad when i get it up around 75mph. Not trying to scare you but they arent up to my standards compared to my friends nittos.

I bought my Jeep used and it had ProComps on it. They were extreemly noisey on the road and would get rubber shaved off while rock climbing. Another bad thing I had was it whould feel like they would randomly grab on the road and pull left or right. Talking to a mechanic friend, he told me that it has something to do with the rubber ProComp uses in their tires, it gets very hard over time.

Currently I am running Duratracs on ProComp wheels that I like very much.

They have a good mileage warranty but they look like standard A/T tires and don't have an aggressive tread pattern. They should be good tires if your not going for an aggressive look.

Aw, man- you messed up BIG TIME. Seriously, you couldn't wait for Duratracs? I'd cancel your forum membership before the wolves catch your scent.

JK, I think most tires of an ilk these days are fine- follow any Duratrac thread and there are always posts about BFG, Falken, Nitto, etc. as being just as good or liked more for some reason or other.

Your order's in: post some pics when you have 'em and enjoy rocking something different as our lab rat! Good luck with 'em.

The Pro Comp extreme has an aggressive tread
They are a load range D tire so have a stiff side wall and extra plies also on side walls. You'll get good miles out of em they are a harder compound you can also air down further cuz of stiffness. I run 37's get them down to 10lbs they do take some abuse and also chunk on outer edge of tires they seem to be less grip on rocks due to stiffness. 4wheel parts owns Procomp so they naturally push this product cuz they make more $$ on them. I'll be looking at Goodyear MTR for next set of tires.

When I was deciding between the A/T extreme and the MT/2 I just didn't think it looked aggressive

I have had 4 sets of Pro Comps over the years and don't have a bad thing to say about em. Have had 1 set of MTs, 1 set XMTs, and 2 sets Xterrains. Have had no problems aired down, in the rock, or on the road and would have no problem running them again. Wouldn't mind trying the XAT either.

BTW, all tires show wear after use on the rocks. My Iroks were horrible for that.
