RIMS/Backspacing for a 2012 JK

I'm about to bite the bullet(wallet wise, lol) and buy the tires i've been eyeing for awhile(BFGoodrich KM2's @ 315/75r16).. But I need new rims, as my stock ones are just not gonna cut it, lol. However, looking around I have tried to piece together what I can, and I think I've seen a general consenus of 4 to 4.5 inch of BS? Can someone experienced in this area confirm/correct me? I just don't want to spend 600+ only to realize I made a mistake...

OH! And also, something I didn't see... Does it make a difference whether I get steel or aluminum(or whatever, lol)

4"-4.5" would work just fine with the 315s. Just remember, the lower the backspace number, the further out the wheels and tires will be from the body of the Jeep.

As for steel versus aluminum: aluminum is MUCH lighter than steel in most cases. Of course, steel can be bent back into shape if banged on the rocks, whereas aluminum would probably break.
