Anyone ever remount stock 09 rubicon tires on a wider after market wheel? I just put on some 17x9 black rhino wheels on my 4 door 09 wrangler. I had the stock tires remounted on them. The ride is so much rougher now. At slow speeds its like I have dirt bike knobby tires on there. I've been running them with lower pressure to help. Could it be because the wheels are to wide for a 255 tire? Thoughts?

Ours are mounted on stock Moabs and at low speeds they are bumpy, I think it's just the nature of the tread design. A wider tire would work better on that wide a wheel, but I really think it's just the tires.

I would thought that too, but I ran almost 8000 miles before I swopped rims. Its gotten much worse since. Almost like the treads are not even anymore.

Balanced twice. Not the problem. Think im just going to have to junk them and go with a bigger AT tire.

255's are a bit narrow for a 9" wide wheel. Tire manufactures recommend an 8.5" wide wheel at max for a 255x75R17. This could have an effect on how they ride. Tires are designed to flex in certain areas of the shoulder. When you mount them on a wheel that is too wide (or too narrow) the tire is forced to flex in a different area. This can create a number of issues in the tire some you can see and some you can't. This may be your issue but its hard to say for sure.
