I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited. The back tire got stolen last night. Can anyone give me a heads up as to what the best approach would be for dealing with this problem?

Should I contact my insurance? Or should I just buy a new tire? And what tire should I buy? And where can I get a back rack / lock to prevent this from happening again? Is there a way to turn this into a positive buy buying a much bigger and badass looking back tire? Lol, and would that make sense without actually buying four other badass looking tires?

I'd check for someone who has already got new rims and tires and still has the stock wheels laying around. Most just want them gone some way or another and even though some will not want to part with just one wheel tire combo I'm sure you will find someone that will take a few dollars to get rid of one. Most of my friends either left their stock wheels with whoever did their new wheels or are complaining about them being on there porch somewhere taking space with nobody wanting to pay any real money for them. Now if your where looking to get new wheels/tires anyway that's a different story. Some will disagree but I'd offer someone tops 150-200 for a spare and if nobody sells just move on to upgrading anyway

That's what 99.9% of "security" related items are -- including door locks and dead bolts on your home.

If someone wants what you have bad enough, they're going to get it.

My philosophy:

Don't piss anyone off bad enough that they target YOU personally. If they want to hurt YOU then everything you do to protect your stuff is in vain.

If they're not targeting you personally, then it's just about "stuff"... And given a hard route and an easy route, most people (criminals are still people) choose the easy route. So you don't have to make something impenetrable... Just take steps to make getting your stuff harder than getting someone else's stuff.

And even then, occasionally you'll still get violated. That's where insurance may come in. In some instances the insurance still isn't worth paying for, so in those situations you just have to eat the cost. It sucks, but it's the world we live in. Assuming you don't make a point to piss people off all the time, and you took some reasonable steps to secure your stuff -- and you don't live in Detroit -- then this should be rare and (as much as it sucks) something that we can cope with.

Wheel locks just slow them down if they want it, just installed new Fuel wheels and tires with locks and placed a small cable lock on the spare also. In parking ramps I look for place I can back in close to a wall, Friend had spare stolen at an airport long term ramp.
