Steelies for a JK

Anyone know where I could get wheels like this for a JK?

I don't know why, but i love the look of this wheel. I see them on so many good ol regular cars driving around town and I'm jealous! I want them for my JK.....

Thanks!

I'm curious too. I'm about to do wheels and tires on mine. I love that "old school" look!

They put those wheels on older fullsize chevy suvs and trucks in stock work truck form. You just need to find some. Most of those older fullsize chevy's are 5x5 so they should work fine. Look for Police wheels from Suburban/Tahoe.

Here is a set on ebay: Wheels 16" 5x5 you won't find a better deal | Mogadore | eBay Classifieds (Kijiji) | 18366319

oh man, i absolutely searched heaven and hell for something with that look and could not find,
i was trying to get as close to the 41 WILLYS look as i could for my armygreen 2006 TJ,

but nothing existed in the right SIZE, here's what i found:
- wheels like that are very basic steel wheels that come on cheap vehicles and come in also cheap small sizes, like very thin width wheels 5" and crap like that. i already had 8" wheels, i wanted to keep the same width i had. could not be found in that simplistic lowcost wheel design as you post above.
- i did find that exact looking wheel but only for a trailer, and yet again only in cheap small thin sizes. so even if that trailer wheel came in a 15x8 i wouldn't have trusted it at all for the driving vehicle, jmo i don't know whether it would work or not.
- american racing makes something almost with that look but not quite there, and then they charge some asinine price like $250 a wheel, disgusting. they call it part of their "classic" series, i call it bullcrap.

- the stock wheels that came on the 2004/05 WILLYS Edition TJ also have a great simplistic look and i've read were simply stock wheels from the previous YJ series jeeps. i found though they only came in a 15x7, i didn't want to go down to a thinner tire, and they also were hard to find - the YJ ended in 1995, and i didn't see any WILLYS wheels for sale, at least not for a fair price, but still would've been only 7" wide - no good for me.

*sighs*.

i am though happy with what i finally got - blackrock usa-made that looks same as the cragar soft8 but was $12 cheaper per wheel, was only $70 per wheel, a simple steel wheel that was easy for me to paint OD, it already came in a nice flat-ish black. i'm stoked.

i just thought of one thing, you have a JK, the military is now using JK's or looking at them or something, you may see what wheels they're using on them, chances are it's a low cost simplistic wheel and may have a similar look to the above.

for me that wouldn't do, it would end up 17 or 18 diameter, i like my 15's.

google for "J8" - i think that's what the new military jeep is called

Thanks for the replies everyone....
Thanks for that link WranglerJ

Yea, I've been searching high and low as well and have come up with nada so far!! Very frustrating!

I emailed the DTD rep on here and he said a 15" steel wheel wouldnt work on a JK due to rubbing brake components....and yea, when I get new wheels, I'd like them to be 15's...
I found this on the DTD website:
Find Original Equipment Steel Take-off custom wheels by size
A google search hasn't been much help so far....

armygreen....Blackrock make some nice wheels. I like their Yuma series 908B's....they look identical to the MB72's that I also like if I can't find an older style wheel to use.
And I've googles the hell out of J8!!

I emailed the company that makes the J8, who are based in South Africa, to see if they could help out at all...

They're not allowed to deal in the US

Bummer....

when i googled J8 i found a forum i think called JK forum where someone was selling those exact wheels, but note that he said they were dodge or something and required some kind of adapter kit which he or another person in the thread was also selling,

so from what little info i found, you can do this! but will take more research exactly what to buy, and maybe the only option at the moment is another brand's wheels coupled with some adapter kit.

a lot depends on how much willing to spend; when i was looking i knew that what i wanted was a simplistic existed-forever style steel wheel, so i was only willing to buy them if priced like other steel wheels, i wasn't going to pay $200+ per wheel. but jmo. i also own an older moderate mileage jeep, i wasn't trying to make a costly customized thing out of it.

with the popularity of military stuff and the renewed jeep to military scenario, i think the chances of these wheels and other J8 features being available for JK's is definitely in our future.

if those exact wheels exist in south africa, maybe you can find an ebay seller there who can get you some. i've bought guitars from Japan that gibson won't allow to be sold here. take precautions though buying off the internet out of country.

Yea, I saw that same post....

I think I need to stop looking up Jeeps to find these wheels and instead start looking at other truck/suv type's that use these wheels and see what I can find.

I'd love to have these wheels, but I'm also not willing to spend $200/rim....eventually I'll just give up and go with the BlackRock's or MB72's.....

They're on eBay under Dodge Ram steel wheels. I can only find singles... These would look great in Natural Green Pearl on my Jeep!

15's with 3.75 or smaller backspacing will work, but you may or may not need to grind some of the casting off the calipers. There are several people on the forums with 15" steels on a JK, myself included.

15s will work depending on the wheel. Im going to run pro comp 52s. From my experience and l the research I have done it doesn't seem to ever be a problem.

Would the 16's in those links work?
It's 7" wide...would I need wheels spacers?

Do you notice any difference in gas mileage with steel wheels?
What kind do you have?

16's should fit without any issues at all. mine are 15X10, with 33X12.5 MT/R's, and I had a huge change in MPG, but I went from 29" to 33" tires at the same time, so can't really say if the wheels made a difference or not, but I doubt it.

I'm seriously wanting to get 5 of these in 17", spray them Natural Green Pearl, and put my 33" Terra Grapplers on! I'd love to see someone who has painted these to match their paint... Especially green or tan...

both those wheels you posted are 5.5 inch lug pattern. you need a 5in lug pattern. there is an adapter. i think spidertrax makes them

Good to know... I have spiderteax on for my 295/70/17 Nittos right now... Definitely don't want to buy another set. I'll keep looking for the right bolt pattern.

Thanks for that info.
I'm not sure why I thought the bolt pattern was 5.5.

I probably won't get wheels like these of I have to deal with spacers.
I love the look of them but it's not worth the extra $$ and hassle to fit them onto my JK.

that's my feelings too, i wasn't going to get into risks and hassles like that just trying to chase the '41 willys look; the primary thing for me was that my wheels were painted to match the body, and 2ndary thing was that they be a simple looking wheel not foofoo pimpdaddy,
so the craiger soft8 was what i was going to get, i simply saw the blackrock identical-look wheel still made in USA and $11 cheaper per wheel ( x 5 ) because it came with its center cap whereas the soft8 did not.
so easy/simple, a wheel that went right on my jeep with zero hassle, and painting them myself was easy and dirt cheap, and i'm no painter! this is about the 3rd thing i've ever painted in my life.
