Exclamation Tire help

Okay, so I just bought a 1993 wrangler 4 cylinder. The guy i bought it from just installed 33 inch firestone all terrains on it. They are brand new and he only put about 50 miles on them. My friend who is a mechanic told me these tires are too big (due to it being a 4 cylinder) and I needed to drop down to at least a 31 inch tire. Here's my question, The rims are Black Rock 15 x 10. What size tires would you guys recommend? and should i get new rims also? The jeep has a 3 inch lift if this helps at all. any help would be appreciated

what do you mean there to big? there fine espescially with having the lift not to mention being on a 10in wide rim you don't want to go any lower then a 12.5in wide tire IMO.. Your issue however with bigger tires is that unless you upgrade (rear) and then regear your axles is that you do loose power.. some find it tollerable and some dont. Enjoy your 33's, WELCOME TO WF, and don't forget to Wave

Drivetrain yes - more stress
Engine yes - lugging

Really depends some on the tire/rim

A very heavy load E MTR on a steel rim will kill performance/mpg's and what I mentioned.

Light combo not so much.

Even though the 2.5 has 4.10's I think 33's might be pushing it.

He's probably right but I would not worry
Since you have them. If its really a problem you can replace.

It will take away from your HP until you regear but won't hurt your engine.. In the end though it is a 4cyl so you didn't have much HP to begin with.. Seriously.. Enjoy those 33's and when you want, upgrade your rear axle and regear. YJ's and TJ's with 4 bangers on 33's and 35's are not uncommon at all and people are quite content with it.. At times some do chose to move onto a Jeep with a I6 and others are just happy with the 4 banger they got
