tire shopping - question

Hi

I'm looking for new tires for my '12 wrangler. Has anyone ever heard of Milestar tires? Are they any good?

I've never heard of them, sorry! What type of tire are they? Around here, most people will recommend Duratracs for all terrain. I have a personal fondness for BF Goodrich KM2 mud terrains. They're the ones used on the new 10th Anniversary Rubicons.

Ok, thanks. I don't do much off roading other than on the beach. I'm just looking for something a bit bigger so it fills up all of that extra space in the wheel well. I'm also looking at GT Savero HT2 tires. I don't really want to overspend.

I haven't hear of those either. It sounds like you are looking for a less aggressive tread and not too expensive. I love my Yokohama geolandar AT-S. you could get the HT version if you want less aggressive and a little cheaper than that. Mine are quiet and work great. I think I paid 650 or 700 for 4 32" tires. I'm at 45k now and half tread so they are a good buy

i have never heard of either of those...

its your choice, but IMO.. tires should last you 2-5 years +/- depending on how much you drive.. SO if you save $200 on a set buying some off brand, how much are you REALLY saving? what type of warranty do these tires have? 10,000 miles down the road if you have a problem, are you up the creek ? if so, you didn't really save anything , did you?

I will tell you this, there aren't many things as annoying as being stuck with a bad set of tires that go out of balance of don't wear evenly.. every time you drive you'll feel that shake in the steering wheel, of feel it pulling to one side...nothing like having a $500 investment ruin a $30,000 Jeep..

I did a bit of Google-fu and found Nankang Rubber Tire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, as probably being the maker.

Unsure of that but you can confirm via your own research.

My own experience with Chinese tires has been unsatisfying at best.

Back when we put new tires on my wife's Grocery Getter Liberty my friend said we can either spend $$$ or $$ since her rig is used in town and not for long trips we went with the cheap Savero tires. Can't complain, but these are NOT great highway tires. If you want a quality tire you have to spend the money. Personally I wouldn't put these on my Wrangler, but that's my personal preference.

Ewwww... same here with experience. I had nankang on my previous vehicle and they were the worst tires ever. Loud as hell for a street tire, and wears too fast. I probably only got 10k from them.
