Tire sizing without lifts.

Just got an 87' J.WRANGLER Laredo and it came with 15"h x 12"w rims. The tires are garbage (lo-pro like 26" crappers lol) and the jeep has no lift. I'm wondering which is the biggest n widest tires I can put on it. I thought about 31"x11.50 or 12.50 but I don't want any rubbing...guessing I can go 30"x12 without rubbing. I will mosdef get between a 2.5"-4" lift inda future but for now what do you guys think I can get away with? thanks in adv...

Those are really wide wheels.... You want your tires to be wider than your wheels so you don't have that stretched/low profile look to them, and so they'll hold a bead. I'm not familiar enough with YJ's to tell you the max width they can take without rubbing...

Congrats on the new addiction, and welcome to the forum!

you can go 30x9.5 with no problem on 15x7 or 15x8 wheels. You can also go 31x10.5 on 15x8 with 4" backspaceing without rubbing.
