White walls (or letters) if you are a fuzzy dice on the mirror person.

Black walls if you are a cage between the front and back seats and shotgun in the Jeep person.

i always want the white on the inside. if the tire company wants me to advertise their tires they either have to pay me of give me the tires for free.

This same question was asked about a month ago. It was about 80-90% saying in, I was in the minority saying put the white letters out. I gotta agree w/ the above post though, my thoughts were specifically on a black Jeep - others, like green would look better with them in.

So next question: I have 30k on my tires - at next rotation - can I have white letters turned in? Not sure if it's an old wives tale - that the steel belts or radials wear one way, or whatever, and you can't reverse in midstream.

I'd guess wives tale based on the fact that when you take your right tire and switch it to the left side of the car, it would then be turning on the opposite side of the tread - just as if you flipped it on the rim.

That's purely an educated guess. I've never heard that before.

what i think doesnt matter but since i read all the responces im gonna give mine. If tires have white lettering they should be out. if you dont like white lettering get black tires. when you drive down the street and especially on a raised vehicle everyone can see the lettering on the inside and that just looks dumb.

It looks dumber if you cut one on a rock or curb edging . If you are not going to be in either circumstance and like cleaning letters run them out. I have done both depending on the vehicle. My jeep gets them in because I worry about damage. My Suburban had them out and never had a problem. And btw not all tires are easily available in black outer lettering. I had no choice and once I get them dirty the insides will not matter. Orange clay pretty much stains the tire anyway.

In, but it all depends on the rim and the car like stated earlier. I got black rims so the entire black rims and tires looks good. I also agree with jgano, why be a rolling billboard? Then again.......if i got a warn winch or something I don't see myself spray painting the logo

Sorry, but I like my white letters in on my black Jeep

It is all personal preference. There is no right way. There is no wrong way.

There were two reasons I put my white letters in:
1. I think it looks better.
2. I bought retreads-GoodYear MT tread pattern w/ Bridgestone sidewalls.

Do what you think looks good.

I got a new set of BFG ATs yesterday. I like the white out usually and thats what I asked for but they went ahead and put em on white IN. Now, a family friend hooked me up on this set (32s for 650 out the door!) plus I am sick as a dog (hence at home on 4th of July reading the internet...) so I went with it, not complaining. And I have to say.... I really HATE it!! It annoys the crap outta me! Everytime I see it! I'll be switching at the next rotation, hoping it doesnt cost me a ton!

Quck question; Do all tires with white lettering have only one side white and the other side black? Have you ever seen white lettering on both sides of the tire. Reason I am asking is because I run with the black lettering on the outside and was looking to get a new tire and I am having trouble finding ones with black lettering.

I have the white letters to the outside.
When my rims are powder coated in matte black I will install the tires with the black letters to the outside.

Not all tires have the white lettering, I have never seen a tire with white on both sides. All good tire places should ask you if you want black or white on the outside.

we're all pink on the inside

that didn't make sense. ha

I prefer the white lettering on the inside though because the lettering gets scraped and torn off and looks bad after awhile. Whatever you like though. they both work equally well

Thanks Rang-Luh man. I should have left a silver lip on my rim so the tire doesn't blend in with the rim, I may just go with the white letters next time around. My tires are blacked out on both sides so I can't just rotate 'em to get the white letters.

JQ!

I hear ya man! You've inspired me with the Powder Coating idea! I'm getting mine done in Jet Black on Mon/Tues this coming week.

I've been looking at wheels the last few weeks, and thought I was pretty set on what I wanted. Problem wasn't price, but availability. All three that I was considering, are on Backorder, so I decided, "Why not just paint them, like JQ?" So, I am!

The three I was considering, had the Lip Machined, where it was Silver, and the Center Cap was the same color as the Lip. I saw pics of all Black Wheels on Black Tires, and no matter how good the Wheels looked, style wise, they just seemed to disappear into the Rubber, and it looked like a big Blackout.

NO OFFENSE MEANT TO THOSE THAT HAVE THEIRS THIS WAY!!! It's just not my thing, that's all!

Anyway, when I thought about your Powder Coated Stock Wheels, I started playing around with the "Paint Program", on my computer (really crappy program to try and Photoshop Wheels..... uuuggghhh!). This is what I came up with, and the last one is my selection.

Stock Wheels:

Spokes Only, Powder Coated:

Wheels Powder Coated, with Lip and Center Cap Stock Silver Color:

Now, to get back on-track, after I've derailed this thread..... when I get my Wrangler Silent Armors next week, if they have White Letters, they'll be going IN. Also, first chance I get, I'll get some Black Shoe Polish, and paint them out, so they aren't seen from underneath. Again... No offense meant... just that White Letters aren't my thing.

When I had an '86 Black Chevy S-10 Blazer, it had White Walls... not the Raised White Letters. The day I brought it home, I spent at least 1-2 hours, painting out those White Walls with a handful of Black Laundry Permanent Markers! My wife thought I was NUTS... well... I am..... just not Certifiable... yet..... the Paperwork is still being processed at the Courthouse as of this writing!

Cheers!
