Recently many have been asking about these tires. Since they are basically new to the market, there has not been so many reviews on them on their performance offroad.
From my experience with them, they have been the most quietest, if not the quitest tires i have ever owned and they are my first a/t tire. My street tires from previous vehicles i owned in the past were much louder.
Appearance - its just a combination of beauty and strength. Aggressive tread pattern and broad shoulders.
Size/Weight...i'm gonna list the most current sizes the community uses as well as their lightest tire per size. There are 15' tires, but the 33's or even 35's aren't listed and i'm not sure if they make em in that size.
Warranty - 65k for the P rated, and 50k on LT.
LT285/75/16 E 52.9lbs
LT295/75/16 E 63.7lbs
LT305/70/16 E 67.9lbs
LT315/75/16 E 71.7lbs
P285/70/17 48lbs
LT285/70/17 E 50.5lbs
35x12.5 E 69.9lbs
LT285/75/18 E 65lbs
35x12.5/18 E 80.7lbs
Price - Of course pricing varies, but to give u a rundown of prices and perspectives for 285/70/17, duratracs are around 270, falken wild peaks 200, and toyo at2 220.
If you have toyo at2, please feel free to comment and add your own reviews.
Pictures do not do the tire any justice. It looks more bulky and aggressive in person.
i'm considering these with an AEV 2.5" dual sport lift. i'm considering the 285/75/18 as well on the stock rims and wondering how that will work out. can't wait to hear your experience with them cokey4237.
That size is about a 35" tire. With a 2.5" lift, you need to be looking at 32s which are about 265-70-18...unless you're also running Metalcloak fenders or similar
Nevermind, that's for a TJ, I forget there are other jeeps besides TJ's and I'm usually posting in the TJ tech section.
Probably goin to get them mounted and on this sat. I literally just finished with the lift an hr ago. Not as easy as I thought. I only had my torque wrench, no drill :/ Never mind, I had a seized tire nut. Killed my time
On my Suburban (which I owned up until 2-weeks ago....sold for the Jeep) I was running the orginal Toyo ATs 35/12.5/20....i went through that set and then replaced them (same size) with the new AT2's / While the ride remained basically the same the AT2's were noisier at highway speeds and hummed around 75 whereas my orginal ATs did not hum whatsoever
Just my experience based on living with both of them - but again this was on an 07 Suburban with a 6" lift so might not be germane to our jeeps
jadmt has the e rated version, and i have the p rated version...same size. both of us confirmed that these tires are quiet for the tread design. 35x12.5x20 is a not so common size for a jeep so maybe it does (hum) at higher speeds with that size tire...or maybe its the aerodynamic turbulence you get from the lift, but since you changed from the at to at2, maybe it is the tire.
cokey4237 will be our so called guinea pig since he has a lift. lol
I finally had a chance today not by chance to review the grip during hard braking.
The car in front of me abruptly stopped due to another car trying to squeeze his way in from the on ramp. I was about 5 car lengths from the vehicle and once I saw smoke and hard screeching tires, I did the same.
The tires being big as they are helped in the stopping process. My gym back which I carry in the passenger seat fell onto the floor with a lot of force (just to get an idea)
I had the same experience with the sra's...but the sra's were "skidding" when I slammed on the brakes. With the at2, you can feel it working....it feels like the tires are gripping to the asphalt to stop. I was in control and for the first time ever, I felt confident that these tires would do its job since i had one hand resting behind the passenger headrest the whole process. That's what I was thinking about during the whole 5 second process... These tires are flat out ridiculous as I came to a complete stop 2 cars behind the car in front of me....the people behind me almost hit me and smoke was coming from their tires as well....the at2's didn't even smoke as I expected it to.
^ ugh I hate stupid drivers. It takes 5 minutes to take the next exit and turn around. Instead they almost cause a pile up.
I work in providence which is top 5 worst cities in the country for driving. Twice in a week i was driving in my mail truck taking a left hand turn and someone tried to pass me on the left. Lol
Good to know your okay, no harm no foul other than an a rapid heart beat and white knuckles.
Also good to know the tires held up for you. Are you running stock breaks ?
Nice.. I'm replacing my front pads on Monday with the addition of my jks track bar and FINALLY the tires. I won't be able to sleep for the rest of the weekend!! Wanted to have them done tomorrow but my buddy who owns the shop is going to is closing at noon tomorrow.
I have been running toyo at 2's on my 2000 blazer for a few months now and hardly any tread wear very quiet and for an A/T tire they have been fantastic in the mud through huge puddles and in snow. Def the best tires I've had to date!
Your gonna enjoy them. I hear very little to no humming on the hwy. getting a lot if compliments on them too. :thumb: hopefully testing them out on the beach on Sunday
I'm glad to hear that cokey... coming from the bigger lineup of toyo at2. jadmt said its pretty quiet too and not harsh. i've had pro comp xterrains on a tundra and those were noticeable in cabin while all windows are up and you can tell that they were rough even having the adjustable shocks at its lowest setting. these toyo at2s don't even make a sound with my top down on the jk. i can hear the tires from other vehicles when close on the road .... i'm glad that i went with these.
i'm gonna be mudding mine this Sunday with my local jeep club...we'll see how that goes. I'll be posting more reviews on the tires since i'll be out offroading more frequently once my lift arrives (still on backorder)

thanks Tranquilturtle. thats reassuring. i also have some buddies to winch me out if in case i get stuck this weekend. So far, i've only managed dirt, and light rocks with the at2's.
Just ponied up and ordered my at2s hope to have them and the teraflex leveling kit on my jku this week
