Treadwright rated snow tire?

In the PNW most mountain passes require either chains in the car or rated traction tires, and i have been stopped before in OR by a highway patrolman to check out my setup on snowy days.

Im looking at getting a set of Treadwright tires, but im wondering if anyone else has these and if you need chains or not? i think you practically never should, but not sure if they have the rating stamp on them to make the HP's happy. It would be stupid to have to carry useless chains in a jeep.

I hightly doubt the Treadwright tires have the stamp on them. I think it's a process to go through for the manufacturer to get the right to stamp the tire and it probably comes at a large fee and lots of paperwork to get it done. I doubt a small company like Treadwright is going to go through the headache and government red tape required just to get a symbol stamped on their sidewalls.

It's funny because some of the worst tires I've ever used in the snow were the ones that had the "mountain snowflake" symbol stamped on the sidewall.

My favorite quote from the press release.. sad but true: "Chrysler claims its products, especially the Jeeps, can handle all sorts of terrible conditions, churning through muddy swamps, climbing mountains, and crossing rivers. Turns out they cannot even handle a car wash."
