what other parts do i need

Hi. I'm kind of a jeep noob and I can only do basic mods. I'm currently running 31s and a 2 inch suspension lift on my 97 tj. I got offered a really good deal on 35 inch tires. Besides the tires, what other parts do I need do this... ex. Different gears, bigger lift, ect.

All the above

What engine, transmission, and rear axle do you have?

Look under the back of your rig at the differential, if it has a rubber plug and its oval shaped then its a dana35, if it has a metal plug and it is sort of a squared off oval then you have a dana44

33s you can get away with. The optimal gearing is 4.56, but if you have 3.73s that fine (Im running 3.73 w/ 33s 5speed 4.0) you may want to look at chromolly shafts $250-300 w/o c-clip elim. Just so you will be less likely to break an axle.

You said you have a 2" lift... add a 1.25 body lift and a 1" motor mount lift and you can run 33s without rubbing your fenders off.

Also you'll need new rims with less backspacing or wheel spacers, Im running 3.75" backspacing, stock rims are usually 5-5.5" backspacing.

TJ Min. Lift and Backspacing Requirements

\/ 2" lift, 1.25" body lift, and a motor mount lift with 33x12.50r15 \/
