Go with 15's or 16's...you'll save a ton of $$ on the tires, plus you'll get the 4.5" or less backspacing you need to run most lift kits, and get a wider stance, to boot.
You can buy 15" wheels AND tires for the same, or often less, than JUST tires for 17" rims.
Just be aware, most of the 15" steel rims won't fit over your brake calipers. However, a lot of the 15" alloy rims will work fine. Check w/DTD for the ones that will work.
