What I have = 33 x 12 1/2 x 15 tire, 15 x 8 aluminum wheel with 3 1/4 backspacing.
I bought a full size spare in a 10 1/2 width & mounted it on stock 15 x 6 spare wheel with 5 1/4 back spacing. got 1/8" spacer and mounted it on driver rear to see how skinnier tire looks in full height (Toyo M/T, the tire I want for all 4) I'm considering going 10 1/2's on all 4 wheels. Friends are trying to convince me to keep 12 1/2's. Arguing "contact patch", looks, etc. I'm tired of tire rubbing at full left turn, and don't want to restrict turning by adding washers to stops. What's your opinion ? Keep 12 1/2 size and deal with rubbing ? Is switching to 10 1/2's going to be all that bad ? I only see the positive with going narrower. Will my rock crawling traction be all that much worse ? Also, if I do go with 10 1/2's, what size wheel-backspacing combo do I use ? 15 x 7 ? 15 x 6 ? The 5 1/4 back spacing on the 6" wheels is totally bad, seems like it would need 4 3/4 at least. What would be better with 10 1/2" width tires 6" or 7" wide wheels ?
