Which tire to choose?

I'm getting some new tires, and have pretty much narrowed the choices down. I'm getting some 275/70/r18 and like both the wrangler duratrac Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac and the dunlop rover m/t Dunlop Rover M/T Maxx Traction
If any of you are running these and have an opinion, please let me know. Also let me know if you are in love with any other tire that is this size.

Also, tirerack.com is the best place I've found to order tires, but I'd like to hear if anybody's got a better place.

Thanks,
Earl

IMO a good place to get tires is to go to Discount Tire Co. With their sweet warranties and free rotations/balancing/repairs (should you get a flat) they do a damn good job...

My coworker drives around on those Goodyear DuraTrac. We were just talking yesterday about tires and I showed him a couple good All Terrain Tires. I think I've got my eyes set on those Firestone Destination AT tires. They got a pretty good price to them and out of all of the major brand of All Terrain tires, they were ranked #1.

Either way, youre on a good path so far. When it comes to getting my tires I dont know if i'll be getting new wheels...I do like the stock wheels that came on the Jeep and there are various sizes and tires that will fit it just fine. I take it your Jeep came with the 18's or are they aftermarket? If so linky!

You can get an even better deal by buying them direct from here Home - Discount Tire Direct and then taking them to your local Discount Tire place for mounting. Option B is to go to your local place and tell them what the on-line price is and ask them to match it. Usually they would rather get some of your money than none of your money and will take up that offer.

They're very similar tires that come off the same assembly lines; the Dunnie is just a tad more mud-oriented.
I'd get the one that you can score at the better price. If that Dunnie came in a 255/85-16, I'd be getting it too.

They never offered me free shipping... ...only 4WParts ever did that.

I am running Dunlop Mud Rover's on my TJ (2006 Golden Eagle) and I think they are great. I've not had experience with any other off-road tires prior to that, but now have Firestone Detination M/T on our JK. so I can tell you that both are great on the road and I've not gotten stuck in my TJ yet! Check out the tires and wheels forum for more info. In the meantime, let me know if you want pics of the mud rover's. Good luck. BTW- I bought both sets from Tire Rack.

wow. just went to your link for the dunlops. I can tell you i did not pay thta much for mine! And I bought them just 8 months ago.

30X9.5R15 Dunlop Radial Mud Rover IN STOCK 4 $119.00 $476.00

Well, I copied my info over but am reminded I run 15's! I guess that is the difference. In any event, they aren't so much the bargain now as when I bought them! But they are really great tires. I love them.

Don't confuse Mud Rovers with the new Mud Rover Maxx Traction tires; there is a world of on-road difference between the two.
I have the old Mud Rovers on my trailer; they're great mud tires but not great street tires...
