will it rub

I currently have 255/70R18 on my 09 sahara unlimited. Will 275/65R20 fit without any rubbing. I read the thread about tire fitment for the JK. But just wanted to confirm this. I am thinking that just from looking at it that I am going to at least need a leveling kit since the front sits lower as of now. the difference in the tires overall diameter is just 2.02 so I was hoping that with the correct BS that these wouldnt rub on anything.
And yes I am well aware of how most ppl feel about 20's on jeeps...But I am not offroading and just like the look of the 20's with the duratrac's.

Thanks, any info would help

With the correctly backspaced wheels, you should be fine. But only if you go with a lift, like you mentioned. That is essentially a 34x11 tire. 34" is the max diameter that is recommended for the TF leveling kit. I would expect a little fender rubbing if you go offroad and especially if you disconnect.

Ok thanks. that is what i was thinking. I didnt really want to go with the 2.5" lift if i didnt have too. This is my daily driver and I baby it, so there wont be any offroading in its foreseeable future, besides snow anyways.
As far as the backspacing goes, 4.5" BS seems to be the magic number for most set ups. will that hold true with the 275/65R20 or will that need to be different?

That BS would be fine with those tires. Do be prepared for a hefty kick in the pants in regards to fuel economy and performance though. Those large wheels and tires are gonna weigh as much as a VW bus. You may want to look into a tire carrier as well. At the very least, you will need Daystar extended bumpstops if you stick with the stock carrier.

Awesome! 1 last question! (I'm new at this, always owned trucks that i didnt have to lift)
I noticed that you have th TF leveling kit on your rig. Is there anything else that needs to be purchased that doesnt come with the kit that i will need for install?
I think that during the install I am going to replace stock bolts after reading the thread about that, but didnt know if i needed anything else?
How does yours ride with that kit also? pretty close to stock ride?

Yeah i figured the price was gonna be high. Im glad you mentioned the spare. with the added weight will i need a new mount or will the added bumpstops be ok? Will that size tire fit on there with a stock bumper?

No, I didn't need to purchase anything that wasn't included in the kit. And good call on replacing the bolts. That is something I need to do as well.

That is going to be one heavy setup. I would strongly consider a new carrier over just the bumpstops. But if you have to run the stock carrier for a while, definitely get the bumpstops. Yes, it should fit fine with the stock bumper.

Ok looks like ill be putting a new carrier and or rear bumper on my wish list. Id like to stick with just a carrier if possible since I dont really have much need for a more heavy duty bumper at this point. And I was figuring that if and when i did do the bumpers that it would be quite a bit further off considerign all the other add ons that i plan on doing.

Do you have any recomendations or ideas on carriers? Ive been looking but not real sure shat i need.

Look into the OR-Fab unit. They have a few different versions for cans, rotopax, etc. Teraflex also has one coming out around Easter. AEV also has a carrier that can be used with stock bumper. It is pretty spendy though and I personally don't like how the tire is offset to the right.
