Winter tires?

I bought my first Jeep this summer (a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara) and it came with 33" Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ Radial. I live in Northern Alberta, Canada and we just got our first big snowfall of the season. Safe to say, my jeep was sliding all over the road. Should I invest in some winters or just stick with my MT all winter?

A true WINTER tire might be the best choice for you. A lot of us down here run the Duratracs, which are a snow rated tire but not a winter tire, and have very good luck with them. You do have the advantage of the longer wheelbase. Also if it is slippery enough that you are sliding around, might not be a bad idea to use 4hi..some people will disagree but It is something I do here in IN.Just be sure and switch out of 4wd when it is not slick.

Go with a dedicated snow/ice tire. It will have the snowflake symbol on the sidewall. Also, go with a narrower tire, as it won't "float" as much and will bite better into the snow.
