With the Unlimited you have three models to choose from, the X, Sahara and Rubicon. Do each of these models have a different gear ratio? I think and would probably assume the Rubicon certainly does but what about the X and Sahara? I have read (I think) that the X is better than the Sahara in gear ratio and off road. Any truth here and does anyone know what the gear ratio is for each? Thanks
Sport and Sahara have the same gear options. The Rubicon has separate options.
4:10 only comes on the Rubicon. It is not an option for the Sport or the Sahara. The only time the 4:10 was an option for non rubis' was in the first productions of the JK's in 2007. After that the 2008-2011 were 3:21 standard on Manuals with an option of 3:73 upgrade and 3:73 for Automatic in non-rubicons. Rubicons came with 4:10 only. In 2012 the Rubicon got a 3:73 option alone with the 4:10 while the non rubicons are 3:21 and 3:73 options.

So is the 3.21 good enough for 33's, 2.5 lift and new rear and back bumpers? Just wondering due to weight of all these add on's. I dont want to be to sluggish off road or on road to bad. To be a little sluggish ok but just wondering if the 3.21 is good enough? I know I read some people say not to tow or anything with a 3.21 too. I would like a better gearing but it appears 3.21 is very common in the X and Sahara besides the Rubicon of course.
