07 2WD Ultimate ?

Found an excellent deal on a 2WD 07, my question is how much do you think it would cost to have a 2wd coverted to 4wd?

Let me head off questions...

Why not just buy a 4WD? This is an OUTSTANDING deal.

It will cost to much to convert! Well if it's more than a comparable 4WD then I won't buy it.

Can't be done! BS anything can be done.

THanks

I honestly am just taking a wild guess, but I'd say between $2-5k to get it done.

You would need at least a transfercase, new skid plate, linkage, cables, front driveshaft and new front 4wd axle. Figure that a new front axle is somewhere around $1400 and a transfercase for around $500(?) that is easily $2k. I'm not entirely sure on what would be needed for a JK, because no other Wrangler model was 2WD.... plus the JK has a lot more as far as electronics go.

If your "packing" plans just involve packing the groceries or latest fashion trends from your nearby TJ Maxx retailer, then get a 2wd and be happy with the simplicity and slight bump in fuel efficiency. lol

Sounds like you are in the service, possibly as Osan AB?
I was in for multiple tours in forward infantry, but apparently not enough to qualify for the Chrysler Military discount.....I feel your pain in wanting to get back home ---

Sure it is not impossible, but why not get a stripped down X 4wd (even a used one) It would be so much nicer than trying to retrofit a 2wd unless your budget is wide open and if that was the case, you would probably be purchasing a 4wd for starters.

Keep the faith.

No I would use it for getting around the marsh in old Northwestern Louisiana.
Yep Mil and in Korea, I dont' really want a "stripped" down vehicle, but anyway it's too late, the Jeep sold.
I'll just keep looking. I have a few more months till I rotate back to the land of the big BX!

wouldn't have been worth the time or money. it will be cheaper, and easier to buy a 4x4. same story w/ swapping in a 6 cyl in a 4 cyl jeep. cheaper and easier to buy a 4.0 jeep.
